My youngest son just qualified for the Iowa All-State High School Orchestra as a freshman (he's a violinist) and I'm so proud of him I just had to tell the world. If my forum friends, especially those outside of the US, would Email congratulations to him at:

seenkamery@yahoo.com

he would be quite impressed and I would be forever in your debt.:D

P.S. His name is Sean, not seen. Don't ask.

Hi Bill,
I sent a little more than an email being an ex professional musician myself many (Too many) years ago. I know just how he feels. On top of the world.....

I sent him one too. Quite an accomplishment and one that should not go without the proper fanfare.

Oh, billk, et al - as to the emails coming back - it's because you spelled yahoo with one extra "o".

I was a pro musician in my younger days too - man that was the happiest time ever! Except for watching my son come into the world, that is.

The e-mail bounced on me too, Bill.

I know exactly how you feel, though...
I have an 11yr old violinist living with me...(I'm listening to her practice as I type)
She's been taking Suzuki violin for the last 4 yrs., & is quite good (in her Father's humble opinion :) )
Recently, she has become serious about fiddle music, bluegrass in particular.
A couple of weeks ago, we had the NBMA bluegrass convention here in town.
My daughter attended a workshop there, & got to jam with some of the many players who were there.
Let me tell you, the ol' man was just about ready to bust his button! :D  :D
I'm still awful puffed up about it!

Tell your son for me that it's very impressive to see a young person apply himself, & succeed at something that requires that level of skill & discipline.
I wish him the best!

Billk, Charlie,
I'm as happy as a piggy in dirt for you both and your kids :) .
I was never blessed with kids, but I sure can feel your pride and rightly so. There's nothing like success! You're a pair of lucky guys! A toast to you and yours.

Bill,
Two of my daughters are oboeists, the youngest is in her senior year at Libertyville High school. The school has been the Illinois High School Association, state music champs for several years now. I can appreciate how you feel, making the all-state orchestra is definitely something to be proud of. Emailed congrat's to Sean, congrat's to you too.
