A noob's mucking around with building and repainting...

    I'd say a tank engine, since shays work quite differently to conventional steam locos and their boilers are off set.

    Very nice job on both! I like the painting on the SD35, espicially the roof detailing and coupler.

    Hi Kevin (and everyone else!)

    Thanks for all the kind compliments.

    The peeling paint on the roof was unintentional, it was the result of the masking tape pulling off the black paint and revealing the dark gray underneath. It'll be easy to fix.

    For those so interested, the shell was preshaded first - blak was sprayed around the hatch openingetc first, then the orange sprayed over the top. This leaves the orange paint darker in those areas, and makes it look quite grubby. The black was post shaded, which is basically overspraying the initial colour with a slightly lightened colour in various locations.
