A Modellers Top Hat

This Top Hat is multi medium model and built to celebrate and to be worn by me in November at the up-coming IPMS Scale Model World Exhibition in Telford UK.

It’s the 50th anniversary of the IPMS (International Plastic Model Society) however its fair to say they acknowledge all genres - So my Top Hat depicts through the box art the 50 years of modelling + paper models round the rim

I started with the brim to ensure that it fitted and so I could get the shape right.

Next I got the side and top brim put together with PVA.

I wanted the top of the hat to flare out and be wider so I took lots of strips of paper and glued them from the top brim down on to the side and worked my way round till I had it covered

Next stage was to cut up the box art I had collected and scaled down before printing and randomly fixing it to the sides
