It is a hot, sunny, late morning down in Terlingua, Texas. The passenger run from Alpine is due in a few minutes. The folks waiting to greet friends, associates and loved ones keep to the shady and somewhat cooler area under the station’s overhang. Baggage carts and the REA truck are at the ready...........

OT-1 Arrives

TP-1 has discharged all of it’s passenger and mail and has pulled up and backed into the “Service Track” to allow OT-1 to enter the Terlingua yards. The “Cat Pause” mine is about five miles back on the main. OT-1 swapped it’s empties for loads at the mine but must come to Terlingua to turn the train for the seventy mile trip back to Alpine................

Busy Yards

While OT-1's Engineer is shoving ore cars around, No. 10 is getting a swing on Terlingua’s turntable. After being loaded with a few buckets of coal & sand, the Engineer will turn the combine, pull the combine and the two coaches out onto the “Station Track”. He will then run around his train, stop at the water tank for a fill up and couple onto his train which is now designated as TP-2 (Northbound). Mail is loaded and the cars are given a quick clean up while TP-2 waits on the “Station Track” for the “Terlingua Turn” to arrive and clear the main back to Alpine...............
