I am collecting HO locomitives from Virginia and Truckee RR. The AHM and Rivarossi loco's have a driveshaft between the tender and the loco. Anybody know where I might get new driveshafts, or even used, servicable?

If nothing else, I think a small hex nut will fit (I'll have to measure again to find out shich one).
Just get a couple brass ones and solder them to a small piece of brass threaded rod, then spray the whole thing black.
Otherwise, your best bet is ebay or a local train show.

I have an old Mantua 4-4-0 that was missing the shaft and was pleasantly surprised that even after a couple acquisitions, I was still able to get one from their eventual successor: Model Power. Perhaps you can holler up Hornby (the new owners of Rivarossi, IIRC) and see if they'll be able to get you one...

And never underestimate the power of Walthers to come up with oddball stuff -- you just have to call them, not depend on the catalog...
