Anyone ever seen a 13 colonies set? I got a shipment in today from runcooper, and in it was a 13 colonies set complete w caboose and Alco engine. Wonder what they're worth?

    That's a Tyco trainset from the 1970s.. http://tycotrain.tripod.com/tycotrains/id22.html

It does have some sentimental value some people might want to pay for, but the quality of the mechanisms (loco motor drive, trucks and couplers) are pretty poor. The locomotive uses one of those notorious pancake motor drives if I remember right.. And all the couplers are truck-mounted.

Actually all the cars are life like and the engine is tyco. But to find a complete set, when I cant locate a set anywhere is cool.:D

    Like that isn't common.

That engine is definitely a Tyco C430, a renownedly low-quality engine. There has never been a good-quality plastic C430 made as far as I know. The only other one I know of is http://www.bachmann.co.uk/prod1.php4?prod_selected=mehano&prod=25 a Mehano model which, judging by its looks, must also be terrible. The paint scheme it's wearing was, in real life, on a SCL U36B.

That would be great for a 4th of July layout! :D
