Any in the UK see that TV prog on the LDV/Home Guard earlier in the week? Ist part of three, I gather. Lesson one. Stopping Panzers with dinner plates. Lay them on the road, with a handful of leaves on top. Fritz has to stop and check they are not mines, at which point you pelt him with molotov cocktails, 'Sticky Bombs' and/or potatos. Foolproof.

Alternatively, form a rapid reaction force by equipping your troops with roller skates. The sight of one poor guy going base over apex trying to kick a door down, while wearing roller skates, well....

Easy to laugh. Next weeks program covers the highly trained assassin squads, and the final prog covers a 1970s 'wargame' when military analysts worked out how thing would have gone if Adolf and his gang had got their feet wet on Dovers beaches.

Anyway, Beaverettes were just one of a huge number of wacky, and desperate, weapons fielded against the threat of invasion, and in some cases such as the Beaverette, much further afield as well.
