0 vs 027 car sizes

    I'm curious if there is a visual difference between the two gauges. In other words, could you mix the two sizes of freight cars without an obvious mismatch? I'm talking about post war items. The same questions for locomotives. Standing side by side, would the difference, if any, show up?

    yes. sometimes a BIG difference. they will couple together, you can run them together , but to me they look funny. sometimes if your running 2 trains at the same time one O and one 027 it dont look so bad as the cars are not mixed up.

    The simple answer is yes. Place a tradition Lionel Locomotive beside a scale and there is what some people would call a great difference. You will find the same thing with rolling stock.

    However even in real life during the 30's to 60's you could find a large variation between the size of box cars.
