Overheard at the foot of the Saturn V

Thanks for the warning. I had used that foam for trying to make diorama landscape some years ago, and saw some of it's crazy unpredictable properties. My experience was that laying down small, thin layers or strands was ok, but if you made a big blob (like a mountain), the outside cured long...

Overheard at the foot of the Saturn V

This was like a science fair at the local elementary, but I was asked to exhibit some space stuff. I brought my recently semi-completed Saturn V, the Apollo capsule, some print-out information, a couple of books and related items. I stood nearby to answer any questions (and to make sure that...

    Apollo 12 capsule

Thanks for looking that up. Since the time that I downloaded and printed out the model, I replaced my computer and couldn't find the download files anymore, or the link. I have them on the old hard drive, somewhere in the basement...

Free GT40 Ford HQ model and more!! "Grace Papercraft"

Nice to see the GT-40 model, it is my all time favorite car. When I was a kid, I imagined driving around in one, except my imaginary one was tricked out like Speed Racer's Mach 5... Normally I don't look much at car models, but when someone mentions GT-40 I come running!

    Apollo 12 capsule

I finished this one up somewhat recently, it was 1/32 scale IIRC, but I forgot where I downloaded it from. The "kit" has full interior detail, (what do you mean, you can't see any of it?!) and had exterior skins for pre-flight, Apollo 7, and lunar Apollo flights. I decided to go with the lunar...

    TVC-15 Apollo 8

This is one that I built up 2 years ago, and I'm attaching it to my Greelt 1/48 Saturn V. Back when I bought this "kit", there was no existing free SIV, and I still don't regret buying it. However, it was unusually difficult to build for a number of reasons. First, it was all in Japanese, and...

    Saturn V dust off

OK, now I have some pictures. Here is a view down the first stage, through the interstage, that shows my supportive dowels as well as all the cardboard circles inside. At some point in the future I could seperate them and build the upper tank and other interior details, but I would have to make...

    Saturn V dust off

So I'm back after a weekend spent mostly of building the umbilical pipes for stage 1, that sure took longer than I thought! But I was also building a way of attaching stage 1, interstage, and stage 2 using dowels so that they would hold together with some degree of stability to withstand a...

    Saturn V dust off

I am cheating alot on this so far. Since I am displaying the full stack, I haven't built any of the motors for the 2nd stage, so that sure saves alot of time! I have the F1 motors half built from 2008, but I might not have time to finish them before the deadline. If not, I will use some puffs...

    Saturn V dust off

So back in 2008 I started building the thrust structure, motors, and first stage of Greelt's Saturn V, obtained at the LHVCC way back when. My dream was to build the full rocket and display all the stages horizontally, like at the museums, with each stage seperate. Ah, what a dream. I had an...

    Saturn 5 build

Ironically, I had a big problem with that section too. I glued it on upside down, so the panel lines didn't match up. I decided to cut it off and glue it on properly, but one segment got wrinkled and looked bad. I printed out a replacement panel on the same weight paper and glued it right over...

    Introductory

Hi everyone, this might sound surprising, but I am new to the forum - I'll bet you didn't expect to find a new member here in the introduction section! Ha, ha. Seriously, I like building many types of models, but over the last 10 years or so I have been mostly building real space, and mostly...

    Saturn 5 build

Have you thought about maybe cutting off the flag panel section and replacing it with a "blank" panel, and insert a flag panel into the section below? I think if you print a replacement flag panel on thinner paper you could glue it over and no one would notice...?

    Resource Greelt's Saturn V Update

I'm sorry about that, it's my fault for not reading that more closely I guess. I'm not trying to get over on anyone and steal all the downloads. I will try to do my part to contribute to the community.

    Resource Greelt's Saturn V Update

Thank you so much to everyone involved for your hard work on this beautiful model. But is there some instructions; I am having alot of trouble putting this together, trying to figure out what ALL the pieces are for. Thank you.
