    New Layout in Progress w/video(s)

Ok. I got bored waiting for the plaster of paris to dry, so I made this little video. It's not done, so please don't tell me that it's wrong, because it's not done. :P YouTube - My N-Scale layout for The Gauge: Part II

    New Layout in Progress w/video(s)

Well, I have changed my mind now and I am planning on modeling in the Michigan, Illinois, Indiana region. Were exactly, I don't know. I am not going to try to be prototypical with this. It's going to be my own little town. :P Thanks for the advice though. I figured out what road name I wanted...

    New Layout in Progress w/video(s)

I really want to model CSX. My first O scale set was CSX, and I think I just grew onto it. I have a couple Santa Fe engines, but they both are older and run like me, not well (that was a joke, because I can't run for a long time, or very well). To answer your question, I am thinking of CSX

    New Layout in Progress w/video(s)

Well, I don't really know. I am planning on having a 10-15 car long freight train and an Amtrak train. I am planning on modeling in the modern era so I can keep changing it with the times, just so it's "never finished".

    New Layout in Progress w/video(s)

Hi guys! In my last thread, I was working on the wiring of my layout. Now, I started this one so I can sort of "document" my layout progress and get ideas and suggestions from you fine people. I just taped a video of my working layout, and explained some difficulties I am having. Keep in mind...

    Wiring my New Layout

Guys, thanks a lot. What I did with the wiring was I took the layout, set it sideways so I could see the underside and the topside, and I just thought really hard. I mean REALLY hard. After 3 hours of work, I finally got the layout wired correctly. Well, I got the wires in the right place. Then...

    Wiring my New Layout

Ok. First thing first. I didn't make the layout. I bought it at a local train show about 2 weeks ago. Also, I don't have extra money to buy the book. I spent it all on the switches today. With the books again, the closest store that might carry it would be about 1 and a half hours away, and I...

    Wiring my New Layout

Thanks again guys for helping me with this. So here is the status of my layout (If you don't want the back story on how I got the switches, skip this huge paragraph). I went on a small road trip with my mom today around the area. Our first stop was the Radio Shack to return the switched I...

    Wiring my New Layout

Thank you guys for all of this help. As soon as I am able to I will run back to radio shack to return the unneeded switches and go to the hobby store to get the Atlas switches. If there are any more suggestions that I should know about before I start wiring this bad puppy up, please tell me. I...

    Wiring my New Layout

So if I'm looking at this correctly, you could hook up up to 4 throttles to the switch mechanism? Also, I would need 2 switch mechanisms for my layout, right?

    Wiring my New Layout

I have a butt load of wire. It's just the switches I need. I now get the diagram and it makes sense, but if there is an easier way, that would be great to see so I could compare them. The sad thing is that I got so excited to start wiring my layout, I went to radio shack and bought me a few...

    Wiring my New Layout

So If Im reading this right, throttle 1 controls blocks 1, 2, 3, and 4 while throttle 2 controls blocks 5 & 6. What if I want to run my train from block 2 to 5? Im sorry if any of this sounds stupid, but this is my first layout and I have NO experience with wiring up a layout.

    Wiring my New Layout

Ok. I got totally lost when I read pgandw's post. I am just beginner here with little money and little tools. If you guys could give me some sort of picture like the one I drew and show me were I should add more block barriers, please do that. One reason why I though this would work well is...

    Wiring my New Layout

Alright. Yesterday I went to the local model train show hoping to get a new engine so I could start my planning around the road name on the engine, but I came up with this. My first thought when I saw this was "Oh golly. This would be perfect", and it was because I have no experience in laying...
