    #1n1m ???

Is anyone running small G scale, 1/32, 1/29, on O gauge (1 1/4") track? 1 1/4 inch track scales to an almost perfect 1000mm in 1/32 and is a perfect 36 inches in 1/29. This combination provides a large garden railroad "G" train while avoiding expensive "G" track. I have a MTH Rail-King (off...

    DCC in B'mann loco's

speaker? Fried a decoder? Ouch! I suppose, since a Tsunami gives both DC and DCC operation, there's no need in keeping the space crowding B'mann mother-board. The On30 tender isn't much, if at all, bigger than an HO. I hope to fit a "bass speaker" in that confined space... is the 1"X1/2" bass...

    DCC in B'mann loco's

Friends, I'm putting a DCC sound unit in a B'mann On30 4-4-0 inside frame loco but I'm puzzled by the separate PC board that the original B'mann DCC unit is plugged into. What is the purpose of this PCB unit and can it be removed for the sake of space? Thanks, Dave R.

    Retro DCC

Hey Gang, some of y'all may remember me from a couple of years ago. Since then, I've been caught up in on30 but have keep my "N" scale collection. Since I last ran my N stuff, I've begun to switch to DCC. I model mostly the the named passenger trains from Florida, e.g. the FEC, Champion, SAL...

    Older Bachmann 0-8-0

I put a magnet on the backside of the file when I do any filing around an engine. When you change this loco over to DCC, you should do a "how to" Thread. Dave

    Foam and flex-track

I had to use what was at hand. (I put a topper on my truck bed and now can't haul a 4x8 sheet) I've hung the 4x7 lay-out from the celling in my shop with chains. I'm going to freehand it with just nails until I'm happy, then I'll put down cork roadbed or just start a new lay-out. I'm also using...

    Foam and flex-track

Thanks Guys. I'm going to build my first lay out as purely experimental, using all the techniques suggested. Maybe Skull Island with a volcano on the moon! The Grandkid's should love it. Once my skills are up to the challenge, I'll get serious about a large detailed lay out. Dave

    Foam and flex-track

I'm using blue 1/2" glued to 1/2 ply as a base and will use pink for mountains, etc. I was wondering what "WS" meant, should have asked. Today I used 9/16 track pins and was amazed at how well that worked. I wonder if that wouldn't work until I'm satisfied with my lay-out then glue the track...

    Foam and flex-track

What's the best way to attach flex-track to foam? Do some use cork and foam; and why? Dave

    Streamlined Pacific

Yea, no doubt some small files are on my list, I need to get a little more sophisticated with my soldering and upgrade my twenty year old Dremal. Jewelers saw? I'll check it out. I'll keep practicing on this on this minitrix awhile, then I'll try to do better on a MP or a Riviossi. Can't wait...

    Streamlined Pacific

You're right, Triplex, it's Reading, my mistake. I just used scissors to cut standard brass sheet. (that's why the window looks bad) But I'm pleased, it being my first try. The loco ran like c--p any way, no love lost. Dave

    Streamlined Pacific

The SAL streamlined a couple of Pacific as did the Erie. The Erie called them Crusaders and the headlamp was moved down. I can't imagine that streamlineing the old smokers helped much but they sure look slick.

    Pink foam

A lot of the foam used in Florida is architectural decoration. When you see some of those multi-million $ homes, the columns and such are made of stuccoed foam. BTW, if y'all cut foam with a hot wire, make sure you're well ventilated and white foam is very toxic when hot wired, I wouldn't try...

    Streamlined Pacific

This is my first attempt to bash/scratch a loco. It's not finished but I thought I'd post a picture before I drop it or something. The machanics are an old Minitrix K 4-6-2. Of course, it's an SAL Streamlined Pacific 868 used to pull the Silver Comet from Tampa to Leesburg. Thanks Dave

    Pink foam

John, "Atlantic Foam" here in Sanford Fl. sells Dupont pink foam in 4x8 ft sheets in 1, 2, 4 inch thicknesses. If you contact them, maybe they can assist you in finding a distributer in your area. Oops, just reread your post. Wish you would'a asked earlier. Dave R.

    "Mountain"s of questions

Well, as y'all can see the SAL M2 has the tapered nose like the Spectrum Light Mountain. So. I'm assuming that's the way to go. Dave

    leaning Atlas locos

I bought my first Atlas diesel a few days ago, an RS 11, I'll check it for that lean tomorrow. I have noticed that the front and back hand rails lean in, toward the cab. I can't decide whether to try to bend them out or just leave well enough alone. Other wise, it runs great. Dave

    "Mountain"s of questions

I need a "Mountain" loco to pull one of my pre-diesel "Orange Blossom Special"s. The SAL describes those Mountains as "modernized" M1's or M2's. I've only two options, the Spectrum Light Mountain or the new (much more expensive) Spectrum Heavy Mountain. Which loco best replicates the SAL M1/2...

Favorite locos not used by your railroad.

I like the streamlined 4-6-4 Hudson's. SAL did streamline a pair of Pacific's. Dave
