I've been having a bugger of a time working out a light system that will tell me if a turnout is headed straight or turned out. I know KATO makes one, but they are pricy and I think there is a clean homebuilt system possible. Anybody have any ideas, shemactics or consoling words?

I have the complete Kato P42 Amtrak Phase III set (2 engines+10 cars , yeow!) and Unitrack, I also have a 9'x5.5' table to work with. The question of the day is given this massive train length (~6') what is the maximum, a) can I get this thing to climb, b)if so at what climb rate (.25" over 4'?)...

Has anyone tried to arrach lights to a KATO turn out switch? The mgf one are $45/ea and I have over 20 turnout d growing. pricy at best.

This is probably the zillionth+1 times this question has been asked, but here it goes. I understand guage. But I am haveing trouble getting a clear number for the 'scale' of N guage. Scale to me is how manyfeet (mm) defines actual dimention e.g. 1:12 can be 1"= 12'.I have not found this...
