New HO layout items came in today!! Like X-mas

Just wanted to try and get everything out of the way in as few orders as possible since shipping was going to be free. I hate making an order and then remembering something else I forgot to order and having to pay $5.00 to ship a $10.00 item and then thinking of something else I forgot about and...

New HO layout items came in today!! Like X-mas

I always remenber how much fun me and my Grandfather used to have together while he was repairing one of his locos that myself or my brother crashed up. He would always let me wear his dads old conductor hat and sit on his lap while he made the repairs.. so I thought I would try to share that...

New HO layout items came in today!! Like X-mas

I am suprised how much it costs to start a layout from the ground up (Loco's, rolling stock, terrain, scenery, etc). I have spent about $4,000.00 so far and it seems I am always thinking of things I still need to get. The rest of the items I need will have to wait until after the holidays. I'm...

New HO layout items came in today!! Like X-mas

I really don't have to hide this stuf from my wife Heee Heee. She's cool. I actually let her pick out the homes as she is going to model the neighborhood on the new layout. I'm getting a little cramped down in my train room now with all this stuff I ordered comming in. Suppose I'll have to make...

New HO layout items came in today!! Like X-mas

WOW!! That's more stuff than I thought I ordered!! I still have 15 freight car kits to assemble and more stuff to order. Now I'm a little overwhelmed. Shheeeesh...How am I going to hide all this from my wife!? The Walthers consolidated Dairy looks like it is going to take weeks (maybe months)...

    Need boxcar recommendation

I'm not sure what they may offer in the specific era you model but the Branchline yard master series is very nice for what you are looking for. As mentioned the Accurails are nice also (probably your best bet) I have bought several. If you go with the Branchlines just don't get the "Blueprint"...

    Ouch!!

I am waiting on the results of the MRI I had done Friday evening. The doctor is part of my Employers company care provider system. The doctors office called back on Thursday and said there didn't appear to be any slippage of the discs after all. "So which is it?" I said! Do I or do I...

    Accurate height for Crossing signals?

These are from a Life Like crossing set. I figured I could wire in a couple of flashing LEDs and make the gates operational using a tortise switch motor all connected to optical sensors. They just kinda seem to big. I'm going to go check out some prototypes today and snap some pics.

    Accurate height for Crossing signals?

Does anybody know? I ordered some that were fairly cheap that I had intended on making functioal but they look MAMOTH to me. I think in scale they would be almost 20' tall. Is that the correct size? I may be able to chop em down a few scale feet but not much more. Let me know. Thanks.

    Ouch!!

I had my X-Rays done today after nagging the doctor who was pretty much calling me a liar..???... so anyhow... he found out the L3, and L4 discs have slipped and are possibly herniated... and scheduled me for an MRI. I told him I couldn't walk without limping because pressure on my left leg...

    Ouch!!

Looks like working on my new layout is on hold...maybe for good while to. I screwed my back up at work last week and it's just getting worse. I can't hardly move now. It's bad... caused me to wreck my car when I was driving home from the doctors office. Had a bad shooting pain that just...

    Destroyed Locomotive collection

Now you know why I don't like cat's! :D Really though, thats just about the one thing you hope never happens. I know where you are comming from though. My sister swooped up all of my grandfathers old HO equipement after he passed. It eventually found it's way to me... but not until after it sat...

Piers For Walthers Double Track Truss

I already have the abutments and wings. I was only going to use 1 bridge since 2 with everything (abutments, piers, shinohara code 83 track, etc.) will be about $150.00 with shipping but I have no choice but to use two so I will have to buy another bridge, the track and the pier.

Piers For Walthers Double Track Truss

I was planning on running them end to end. I was pretty sure I was only going to need one pier but I thought it better to ask before I placed my order and didn't get everything I needed. Thanks for the photos and the reply. Don't know what I do without you guys and your help. I think I will...

Piers For Walthers Double Track Truss

If I was to run two of Walthers HO double track truss bridges back-to-back, how many piers would be required to look prototypical of such a setup? Thanks...just want to make sure I order what I need. Hate it when I'm in the middle of a project only to find out I forgot something or didn't get...
