    Monitoring AC Track Voltage

Just wondering what you are using for monitoring of AC Track Voltage. Also we have sections of track we need to setup to about 16 volts using a Cab-1. Has anyone succesfully used a light bulb or series of LED's to remotely monitor this voltage, if so what voltage lamp? Thanks, Dave

Need some Newbie help w/ Xtrkcad

OK I got it, It's 4:30 am I must have done something wrong but now I see the light. Shift "L" click flips the track piece. Shift "R" give you a selection box of various degrees, plus you can enter your own degree. Now onto the next stumbling block. Thanks for your help... Dave

Need some Newbie help w/ Xtrkcad

Loren. I found that if I choose a piece of curved sectional track, then shft Left click I can rotate it. So far so good. But then when I try to add the next piece it defaults to pointing in the origional direction and I get a nice "S" curve, not what I'm looking for. Thanks for your reply, again...

Need some Newbie help w/ Xtrkcad

Hi, I'm trying to document our club layout w/ XtrkCad. I viewed the demos, printed the help pages, I'm having trouble getting past the beginning stages. I'm trying to use the "0" Gargraves track, no problem. But from my starting point all of the curved tracks point in the wrong direction. So...

If this looks familiar, I posted a similar message about a year ago, but then the deal fell through. A friend and I are meeting with the owner of a layout currently comprised of both 2 and 3 rail "O" plus some "HO" for perspective. I don't know the exact dimenstions but it is made up of 30...

    building and selling starter layouts

Funny it was the same way in the Photo business. The only people who really made money were ones who were smart enough to buy the real estate the building was in. It was the only worthwhile thing to sell when you got out. Dave

    building and selling starter layouts

Well I'm lucky I guess in that I have a friend who owns a train shop. He will allow me to place it in there. Obviously he will get a cut, but more important he gets another customer who needs train things, so its a win win situation. Dave

    building and selling starter layouts

I was at a greenberg show a month or two back. A dealer there had 2-3 small starter layouts. 2 in "N" and one in HO. They were pieced together with mismatched track and nothing I would put my name on, but he was selling them and got like $250 for scary looking HO layout maybe 4x5 tops. I figured...

looking for ideas to xpand LifeLike Mini-base

My main layout is on hold until the basement is prepped. So when I saw this at a flea market for $10 last week I jumped on it. I even have the origional review of it in a 1969 MRC mag. It's made by Life Like, The MRC review said it sold for $15, but the carton says $9.95. I remember reading...

I asked this before about 6 months ago, but I know people join and people leave, so I thought I'd give it another shot. I'm looking for another person locally to help and be helped. I could use a MRR buddy to push me along on some progress, and I too could help them with their layout. My area...

Curious what Printer your using. I'm in the market for one. Also i big step is properly calibrating your monitor. I use a 19" sony flatscreen CRT. I calibrate it with a Colorvision Spyder calibrating Puck and software. I paid $150 for mine, but they now sell one for right around $100...

Self editing of Rail photography ?

I due also, but for me a full card is 114 shots. I use continues drive as the train passes to have a better chance at a god shot. So when you shoot say 100 digital photos how many do you erase. I know the obvious of bad exposure, focus etc. Thanks, again. Dave

Self editing of Rail photography ?

I've been a pro photographer for 15 years, but it was all portrait work. I had a good sense for the good the bad and the ugly. I was forced to retire due to 4 back surgeries. Luckily I live very close to a major NS Junction in Reading PA, so I try to shoot alot of them and also old coal...
