    Starting Over......

Well I did get the track down and functional for my first layout. I learned alot, but I know of numberous mistakes. I am going to get a fresh start. I have spent the last few weeks on a new layout. This is my first draft. Any input is VERY welcome and appreciated. N-gauge Minimum radius 11"...

    Roads

Has anyone used Woodland Scenics Road System with the paving tape and spread it? How does this work arround the track? Roads -1.3" - 1.5" wide about right? Would Tan make a good color for a base coat on foam for terain? I am working in N-Scale. Thank you, DT

    A DCC experience

Well, I received my second train in the mail today. A Kato E8 with decoder. Slightly used train from eBay. I re-hooked up my DCC system and tried it out for the first time. Everything worked out wonderfuly. The only problem I had was a few power losses in certain areas. At first I thought it...

    Molds and Rock Faces

I hope in my layout to have numberous rock faces and cliffs. I am not sure how this is accomplished. You can purchase molds, but I would think they could only be used a few times (one whole, and thers in pieces). It would look odd to have the exact rock faces throught your layout. How do you...

Diode, CDU, lamps and other elctrical things!

I read the messages under “diode matrix”. Went to Radio Shack and was able to make a simple 3 turnout one. It seems to work fine. It does only work with a DC power supply and not an AC power supply. With AC the Diodes do not stop the return power. Is this normal? Now the component I am...

    It's operational!! kinda

After two months I have my track down. I have a 4X8 layout with about 65 feet of track. Later, I will add a engine yard and reverse loop. My DCC is not working yet, but I do have a train with somewhere to go. THANKS ALL!! Now to the scenery... DT

    Wiring Switch Machines questions

I am using Atlas N scale (Atlas code 80) switch machines (undertable, 3 wire) I have three lines going into a coal mine. I would prefer not to have to hit multiple switch controller to open up the track for each line. Is there issues with me wiring it a way so that one push will control multiple...

    Code 80 Atlas Track

When using flex track you end up with gaps (without ties) between your pieces of track. Should you super-glue of model glue ties underneath to fill the gaps. Which glue would be preferable. I can't say enough how helpful everyone has been, thank you. DT

    New to DCC

I purchased a Zephyr, and it will be arriving shortly :) Has anyone installed a Soundtraxx (sound only decoder) is a N scale Dummy car? What is involved? I assume you have to buy new trucks for power. Mount the decoder, solder to power and then attach a speaker. I went to the soundtrax...

    Newbie with Coupler problems

I finally have my track down for my first layout. It took 6 weeks. I think it takes me 3-4 tries and an hour to put one piece of flex track down... :> I also built and painted my first building (Cornerstones Coal Mine), That was about 20 hours. Am I the only one this slow? It's great fun anyway...

    Confusion

 I am about to build my first N-Scale track and will make it DC at first, but I know I will eventually want to make it DCC. I am considering Atlas track and Atlas Turnouts, but to my understanding the turnouts are insulated, and that elctrofrogs are more DCC compliant...
