    mice and trees

The best thing for mice that I've found is the Combat Sticky traps. The mice I've had laugh at regular traps and posion. The sticky traps are the only thing that has worked for me.

    What do you do?

Tugboat captain here. Licensed Master, Oceans, Steam and Motor to 3000 gross tons. Been going to sea 38 years. Twenty five of them on tugs. I work about 30 days at a time, and then spend about 30 days playing with trains. Er.. no wait.. I've got an N scale setup on the the tug. The crew thinks...

    A Mind Of It's Own

Alot of the random directional changes are caused by RF interference. Make sure the wires going to the track are twisted. This tends to cancel out the interference.

    politically correct

I'm a hard core atheist, and I believe in individual freedom, which,, no one will ever convince me that that the American Civil Liberties Underminers have any concept there of. If you want to celibrate Christmas, good for you. If you want to celibrate Hannaka, great. If you want to write the...

I feel the need to get shot tonight...

Since I ran off the wife, threw out the girlfriend, and quit chasing women: 1. My life has been "SO" much more peaceful. 2. My wallet has something in it besides dust. 3. I haven't been in a fight. 4. I haven't gotten arrested for something I didn't do. 5. I haven't had to put up with...

So, what does your wife think?

My wife told me it was either her or the trains, I "do" kinda miss her...;)

Thumb gets butchered. Film at 11.

And it can happen so quickly! I was sitting in the cockpit of my sailboat stripping the insulation off the end of a new battery cable with a razor knife. A love bug flew up my nose. I snorted and shook my head to get rid of the bug. In the process, I raked the razor knife across the top of my...

    Ouch!!

I can sure sympathise when it comes to back injuries and getting no help. Three years ago I got tossed about 20 feet to a steel deck. Someone 52 years old is definitely too old for that kind of acrobatics. Crushed two disks, dislocated two vertebra. Got bad pain from the sole of my foot to under...

A short is a short is a short but not this time..........

I have had the same problem recently. Try turning the track power off and on with the controller. I pulled my hair out trying to find the short myself. Even disconnected the track wires from the controller. Un plugged it and left it for a half a hour. Still wouldn't come on line. Then I...

    Let's see you model THIS!

There's a story that went around years ago in La. about a tank in a chemical plant that was crushed the same way. The engineers and big wigs all said that the tank would have to be cut up and replaced at a cost of like a half million dollars. While they were all standing around scratching their...

    Steep Grade

LGB makes at least a couple of rack locos. They also have the rack to put between the tracks. All of them I've noticed were European locos. Check out the LGB site.www.LGB.com

Adding a car float to the layout

If you're modeling the Hudson River, the white spot could easily just be trash or maybe a dead body! lol

Adding a car float to the layout

The small boat would be "VERY" prototypical. They are always getting in the way. I've had too many small boats to count pass between me and the dock when I was trying to dock a barge. They don't seem to realize just how dangerous it is, and how much of a problem it gives the tug captain. When...

Adding a car float to the layout

Ralph, Your tug is facing the right way. It could go alittle farther back on the barge, but is sometimes prototypical. What I mean't was that the tug in my drawing is on the wrong end, and facing the wrong direction. The rail barges I've towed are always docked stern to the ramp. The...

Adding a car float to the layout

I got the drawing of the tug backwards. It should face the other direction and on the other end. Rail barges are towed on a towline unless the distance they need to go is very short. When coming to the dock, the tug pulls in the towline short and then flips around on the bow of the barge. This...

Adding a car float to the layout

Just got home where I have a scanner. You could put a dolphin breaking the surface to cover the spot. Bouys are not usually placed close to where barges and tugs are manuvering. I've taken out a few bouys, myself. lol

Adding a car float to the layout

I'm not at home now. Don't have access to many of my photos, but here's one that might give you an idea of what I'm talking about. The photo is of a deck barge. As to size, it's 72' wide and 280' long. The pic was taken out of the pilothouse windows in the Intercoastal Canal in Freeport, Tx...
