    Z newbie needs general advice...

The Marklin track and MT track are compatible as far as I know. I don't have any of the two types mated together but if memory serves me, they will do OK together linking up via the usual rail joiners used... Lee

    Z newbie needs general advice...

I would go with an American set by Micro-Trains myself before I would spend a fortune on the Marklin sets. The Marklin sets run good as I purchased the Sante Fe "F" unit set and like it a lot. The very first thing I did however was to convert the couplers to Micro-Trains couplers. I also own...

I used the one that came with a set I got at Wally World. I think it was a Speedez or something like that. It also had a Liberty as well as a Grand Cherokee I think... Lee

    Atlas Shay

Just got back from the LHS where I tried one out and it ran pretty smooth, but was just a tad noisier than other Atlas models I have run in the past. It ran good overall and was well weighted being made of a heavy cast metal--not sure which type though. The detail and piping and such were up...

    Bachman Plymouth Switcher

As we just started another thread on one of these critters about DCC decoder installation, it got me thinking about there being one of these units out there on some industrial complex or small yard somewhere... Are there any of these switchers on the rails today in any capacity doing work...

    Replacing Couplers with MTs

I always try to buy everything with the knuckle couplers already installed. I go to plan B if they don't--The guy at my LHS puts them on for 5 bucks which I can honestly say is worth it because the the amount of time and sanity I lose is worth more to me. Lee

Atlas Code 55 turnouts -- Stalling problems...

So what you are saying is that I cannot just attach the black wire or red wire to that tab and expect it to work, as it will short in one position or the other. I would have to wire it to the DPST switch I guess? Thanks, Lee

Atlas Code 55 turnouts -- Stalling problems...

Hi, I was wondering if there is something I can do to fix a problem with locos that are stalling as they pass through any of the code 55 Atlas turnouts I installed on my new layout? I noticed a small metal doughnut shaped tab on the side of the turnout and wondered if I should be attaching a...
