    Kato 24815 Unijoiner

I made a pocket in the facia so it just slides in; readily available, but out of sight.

    inside egde of track cleaning

Never had to clean the rails. I use UniTrack. The alloy use stays clean even after 6 years.

SW9 and GP18 DCC out of the box ?

Not to my knowledge. But you could hire an expert to do the installation for you. By the way, all the "factory installed" DCC decoders I've tried leave a lot to be desired. They buzz badly and lack function. I've had to replace them with "drop-in" boards. So, I buy only DC versions now and...

Is N Scale Kato track good for a layout? Ideas???

Simply put, if operation is important to you, and cleaning track is a pain, UniTrack is the very best!!!! If a diarama with pretty track is what you want, UniTrack can be made to come close, but smaller rail size may outweigh the major advantages of UniTrack

How did you test them if they're "unopened and unused"?

    Atlas n turnouts

When you tire of Atlas and Peco turnout problems. get UniTrack turnouts to replace them. They're bullet-proof. They'll work right out of the box and forever after. And, you don't ever have to clean the rails.

    Another Atlas Turnout Question

Absolutely no problems with UniTrack. Even better, it stays so clean you don't have to clean it at all. That alone rules out other track for me. I've done the track cleaning thing for far too many years. Now I just run my trains. If looks of the track is an issue for you, see the posts by John...

I don't see anything about N-scale from MTH on that link. Are you giving us a wild goose chase?

    New BiPolar Capacitor-Discharge Controller

I finally found a way to post the diagrams for the UniTrack version of the circuit. Except it won't post. This link should get you there. http://home.att.net/~grsjr/wsb/html/view.cgi-photo.html--SiteID-753342.html

    New BiPolar Capacitor-Discharge Controller

If you just want to try the idea. hook up the common terminal of a SPST toggle to the + terminal of a capacitor. Hook up the negative terminal of the capacitor to a Unitrack turnout. Connect one terminal of the DPDT to a + power supply and the other to the other wire from the Unitrack turnout...

    New BiPolar Capacitor-Discharge Controller

    1. The voltage is set to match the switch-machines you're using. For example, I use 12.6 volts on my UniTrack layout and 24 volts on my O-scale layout. The voltage is set by the power source you use. The voltage limit on the capacitors I use is 50 volts. 2. The number of machines that can be...

    New BiPolar Capacitor-Discharge Controller

Please check out the modern bi-polar instant charge capacitor discharge circuit. It has ZERO time delay, requires only a small capacitor. a SPST ordinary toggle for Kato machines(DPDT for twin-coil machines), and there is no complicated electronics involved. The circuit is fully described in...

    Wiring Switch Machines questions

"power supply for the switches must be capable of throwing the maximum number of switches to be thrown at any one time" This can lead to a very big capacitor in the usual capacitor-discharge scheme. Look at the June issue of Mainline Modeler to see a new and modern capacitor-discharge circuit...

    Mounting Unitrack

Dob't know about foam. My base is 1/4" plywood and I just let super glue wick under the roadbed edges, Holds great and a knifeblade will easily remove it when necessary. If the super glue doesn't melt the foam it might work, but foam can be a bit crumbly. Not the most stable base.
