    Kato SD40-2 VS Athearn SD40-2

    I bought two brand new sd-40-2 Kato engines, and neither one of them ran out of the box because of the way the manufacturer did the electrical hook ups on them. I do not buy Kato products anymore.

    RTR Freight Car(s)

    I have never YET had derailment problems with an Atlas rtr car. They give me such joy that I don't have to spend time getting them to run right. Their detailing needs some work sometimes. I love Atlas cars, I wish their was more variety!

    how far should track be from the edge of the table?

    If you have children at home, I set up my layouts with about 12" of space between the trains and the edge of the board. The first 4" of the board is a road way for cars, and trucks to travel on. My son loves that, then the next 8" is buildings of a town/country my scenery. In the middle is my...
