I am building a layout(my first) and was wondering what the best permanent track was(for alla around track and turnouts/turntables)

I am new to trains(introduced by my job) ab\nd need to know what scenery i need and were i can get it for my layout. I mostly need grass stuff and buildings. but also need to know how to make pavement and gravel for the track to set on.

Does anyone have any suggestions foir a 6' by 5' Train yard with a stations warehouse, and parkign lot(I want to have an auto yard)

I am putting a layout in my tree house. It will for around the perimiter. What is the minimunm width that i can make the platform and not be worried about the train falling the 3 1/2 ft to the ground? I also plan to use a Kato Engine with a Digitraz Zephyr DCC system is this a good idea?
