Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Doug, sorry to hear of the death of the railroader. Goes to show it is a dangerous profession! Starting to cool down after a warm weekend. Rain last night was very welcome. Hope more rain comes tomorrow. Heard on the radio that there was an earthquake in Ohio - 3.0 on the Richter scale...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Yep, it's cold in Dixie today. Current temp is 28 degrees with a chill factor of 9 degrees - that's a bit chilly for these parts! At least it's clear with no icy, slippery stuff. Supposed to be colder tonight. Got our Christmas decorations down yesterday. Son heads back to Birmingham...

Buckeye, I have one of these bridges, still in the box. The problem will be finding it. It's boxed up somewhere with some other train stuff at my parents' house. The next time I get the chance, I'll look for it. If I can find it - it's yours.

Chief, very sorry to hear about Peek. You did the right thing. Sounds like he lived a good, long life. Glad Pam took it as well as she did. Ozzy, hope your wife does well on the state boards. I remember when my wife did that to get her RN license years ago. She stressed before it, then said...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

No, mine is self-contained for US cities and roads. You can purchase maps for other countries, either through a memory stick or download. No subscription needed. Works great!

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Tom, yes they are! I'm a minister and do a lot of driving visiting members, prospects, etc. It will make finding addresses so much easier. Mine also allows me to download and play MP3 files and audiobooks. I'm downloading a book right now. I'll need to get a memory stick to add if I do much of that.

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

John, when we lived in Mobile we built a playhouse for the kids that eventually became our garden shed when the kids grew up. Similar to your shed but not quite as large (or as nice!) Speaking of shirt-sleeve weather, we're having it here in Prattville today. Still overcast (and most of the...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Good morning all! Cloudy and wet in Prattville this morning but not as cold. Temps should be in the 60's today if the sun comes out. Tried the BCR in a Railking NW-2 and it worked as advertised! One minute charging at about 10v and it's good to go. I need to get a couple more for two other...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Yeah, filing is an option. I'll live with the rough trackage for now, since it's only a temporary layout. But it's a shame that so-called "ready-to-run" track has to be filed, twisted, beaten, etc. for it to work properly. I can imagine the frustration for newcomers to the hobby!

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Good morning! It's gray, rainy, but not as cold this a.m. in Prattville, USA. Back in the office again for a few hours. Have a funeral to attend after lunch, then back home. Got a BCR yesterday, gonna try it out in an old PS-1 engine today to see if it works as advertised. Anyone else using...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Ozzy, you're on my prayer list. Hope things go well for you! Buckeye, yeah it would be fun for Prattville to play some Ohio teams. But let's do it down here in late August when we start our season. Temps and humidity in the upper 90's! I don't think our guys would know how to play...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Good morning from foggy and cold central Alabama. Glad to read that you all had an enjoyable Christmas. Ozzy, praying that you get good news soon. Waiting is often the hardest part. Back in the office today - half days for the rest of the week. Should be very quiet, outside of some...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Had a very nice lunch with Mom and Dad today. Mom was more alert than usual and seemed to enjoy the company. Food was great, even if I did most of it myself! Still raining and cold. Sorry for kids wanting to play with outside toys, but grateful because we really need the rain...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Good morning and Merry Christmas from Dixie! Cold and rainy this AM. We had our gift exchange on Saturday so I'm having a quiet morning with the dogs and the trains running around the tree. Wife, kids, her SIL's family down in Disney World this week. RT, very sorry to hear about the car hitting...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Hope everyone enjoys a blessed and Merry Christmas! Been running some trains around the tree on two loops of Realtrax. Right now, a Lionel PWC B6 0-6-0 is puffing out smoke rings on the outer loop as a 520 electric pulls some empty gondolas around the inner loop. Off to our Christmas Eve...

Good afternoon, all. Raining (Hooray!) in Prattville right now. Some nasty weather moving in from the west but looks to be going south of us. Hope no tornadoes form! Chief, good to talk to you this morning. Sounds like hiz'onor is staying busy! Managed to squeeze in a little...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Good morning from the deep south where it's warmer and foggy this a.m. Finally through with the Christmas parties - they're fun, but it will be nice to stay home this evening. Never have really understood all the fuss and acrimony that developed on the CTT forum. It's a shame. I got weary of...

    My Inglenook Sidings Game

Very nice work! I like the scenery - simple, but well done. I agree that a tower or perhaps a small m.o.w. shed might be in order, but I like the uncluttered look.
