    My First Wheathered Stuff

Tell me how someone could hijack a thread titled "My First weathered stuff" by posting weathering related, er... stuff?

You're right. Why use paint when slimy grease will do the same job?

Vaseline is a solvent. It would never dry, collect dust and smear when touched. Clear gloss paint is much safer.

You definitely got what you wanted then. Maybe a Lionel giraffe car will be next... The simplest weathering only takes a few minutes. I can't believe that you wouldn't want to have your equipment looking realistic, but hey, it's your little world.

Deano, There are a lot of e-z weathering methods out there. I wasn't knocking yours. I haven't read your post pertaining to what works best for you. I look forward to reading it though.

I didn't bemoan the fact that they needed constructive criticism. I showed them where they could go to get it. I urge anyone who wants to learn a bit more about weathering and considerers themselves a beginner at it, to go to the link posted below and read about this quarters challenge. Or...

    My First Wheathered Stuff

Yikes! You guys need to pay more attention to the prototype. Study the prototype and you will see the difference between weathering and slopping on chalk. Practice, practice and more practice. I'm sorry to burst some bubbles, but if praising someone for getting a car dirty is what you...

    NJ international signals

I can't believe that as a consumer you'd put up with this company's excuse. I'd expect them to repair it for free or exchange the "crappy job". I sure wouldn't continue to be a consumer with that kind of customer service. That's how companies go out of business. If everything they sold looked...

    NJ international signals

I just went out to the garage to look at mine and I was glad to see that it was a Tomar signal. First thing that popped out of the package was the instructions. You can barely see the wires and it's finished very nicely. For the price you have to pay for these, I think you need to return that...

    Lin Westcott's 1958 Switchman's Nightmare

This link came to me via another forum and it shows quite a few variations of the timesaver and just how far some people are willing to go to enjoy this hobby. There are some very clever ideas here. http://www.carendt.us/

Don't see to many of these anymore...

Believe it or not, but you can use Micro-Sol to remove the decals after dull-Coteing too. Just brush some over the decal and within a minute the Dull-Cote will dissolve and the decal will soften and can be gently scraped off, or you can put on more solution and wipe it off with a dry flat brush...

Looking at digital cameras need sugestions

Steve's guide has been invaluable to me on a number of occasions, for 35 mm recommendations and video too. There are just too many choices to put it all together yourself. I also think you have to trip over yourself to get a really bad camera in todays market. Sometimes my choice between three...

Looking at digital cameras need sugestions

Selecting a camera today is dificult. The reviews here, are non biased and all the information is easly accessed. http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html I shoot with an Olympus 750UZ 4 meg pixels 32-380 (35mm equiv) zoom, with two Macro modes. An HO Branchline Berwick car.

Has anyone ever used Black Gaffers/Duct Tape...

I have a few rolls I use for a few of it's intended purposes. Taping up backdrops, holding flash brackets taping down extension cords for photo shoots, etc. It is tenacious on carpeting and porous surfaces for short periods of time. It is pretty sensitive to humidity and it doesn't hold up too...

A major warning for Labor Day weekend

Charlie indeed hit us hard here in Kissimmee. Lightning hit my computer two days before Charlie, so I had a double disaster. New Mobo, more Ram, new floppy drive and a reinstalled OS, 5,000 lbs of tree limbs and assorted debris and I'm good to go. Frances effects seem to change hour by hour...

Shamus, You need to have Apple's "Quick Time" movie player installed. There is a version of it on your Olympus CD, if not, you can download the free player here... http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
