    Finally, got some progress made!

Very nice looking! Just an FYI, you've got some large sections of track with no railroad ties to keep the track in gauge. Be mindful of this, especially around curves. As temperature and humidity changes, track will change dimensions and the sections with no ties will go out of gauge...

    Hold the foam???

I did the same as Nazgul. 2" pink extruded foam on plywood. Secure with liquid nails caulk. A 4x8 sheet of 2" thickness here in Minnesota is around $17.75/ea. Not cheap but if you want cheap, you're in the wrong hobby.

Car you haven't seen in a while.

I would get 79 more and make a unit train out of them. Would that be about a 15 amp train? I must also add, those are some huge chickens. Looks like they are as large as a 33" wheel. Mmmmm.... giant chicken kiev........... MMmmmmm.

    Kirkwood Subdivision

Building a peninsula between where two cars will park in the garage? I can't think this would be very comfortable. All I can think about is car doors swinging open and bashing the peninsula. But if it works, kudos! Jas

    BNSF Freight Train

I like contaner cars except for one problem - the 3, 4, and 5 packs of articulated cars make a problem for storage (and transport). My layout yard is small. It cannot hold all of my container cars. I don't have a staging yard yet either. Therefore, the container cars need some place to sit...

    progress on my layout

One time each year, usually in April or May, the city I live in has a day where they will come and pick up virtually anything you set out on the corner - furniture, old Xmas trees, bath tubs, carpet, scrap wood, beds, water heaters, etc. And they will dispose of them for you. My wife calls...

Cork vs. Woodland Scenics foam roadbed?

I'm also using traditional cork roadbed on top of 2" extruded foam sub roadbed. I used Elmers wood glue (the yellowish stuff). Wood glue will resist water which you will be spraying on when ballasting. Don't want your track to come lose and get distorted or kinked when in the process of...

New pictures in the members gallery

Your layout looks good. The one photo is a little blurry. This can happen with high resolution shots, focused in, when you don't have a steady hand. To resolve this, try a few things: Steady your hands more when you snap the photo. Zoom out or lower the resolution. Use a tripod.

HELP! Must sell Father's estate kits, etc. How?

Certain criteria will determine where you will want to list your father's items: 1. Do you want to make the most money as possible? 2. Do you want the equipment to go to good hands to ensure someone will carry on and enjoy the hobby shared by your father? 3. Do you want to sell...
