    'O' gauge track plan-critique requested

One thing I noticed is that if the turnout in the upper right was moved to the left of the turnout in the upper middle you could continuously run the whole track without have to throw any turnouts. Hope this makes sense. LOL Cheers, Jim

    Were you from...?

I got started in model railroading a little over a year ago. I can't remember how I found The Gauge but I did shortly after I got started. Great group of friendly and knowledgeable folks here. I look at several other groups each day. The other two I like are RR-line and On30 Conspiracy...

    Another Week another project

That looks great. I think there's some nasty weather creeping in on the right. I just received Darryl Huffman's Easy Backdrop Painting DVD in yesterday's mail so will have to try some of this myself pretty soon. Jim

    Finally - some progress!

Yes, that concrete looks great Val, as does the rest of the layout. It's an interesting process you went through to arrive at this design. More like real life where the tracks and buildings sort of grow together with the track work fullfilling the needs of the building owners. Cheers, Jim

I think I've seen reference to using blue window washer fluid to thin acrylic craft paint. Anyone know anything about this? Jim

    New loco shed

Paul, I thought I sent you better wood that that! It looks 100 years old and in terrible shape! That must be the stuff Jon sent! LOL Actually, I'm really proud to have my first wood cutting experience show up on a fantastic structure like that. You're work and pictures are a real...

    $50 HO Box Car?

That's beautiful work Rich and a nice website. Lot's of good inspiration there. I also say, if you can get those prices on e-bay, go for it. As far as value goes I say they're worth whatever anyone is willing to pay. I think we call that the free enterprise system. Cheers, Jim PS: By...

    Model Railroader. then and now

I think you hit it right on the head Jon. A lot of times when a person thinks a mag isn't as good as it used to be it's because the person has advanced beyond the level of the mag or their interest has become more specialized. Like you said, it's then time to find a mag that fits better where...

    Shhhhh--crossing over

Mr. Bones, I have the Bachman Spectrum Consolidaton with DCC and sound and really like it. The only thing I've noticed is that I haven't been able to program the top speed to slow it down to something more realistic. No problem just slowing it down with the controller but I'd still like to...

Just curious, what camera are you using

I use a Fugi FinePix 2650. It's basicaly a 2 megapixel point and shoot with a few extra features and a pretty good macro for this class of camera. Jim

What do you want to achieve in the New Year

Hi Paul, I need to figure out if I'm going to keep working on my HO layout or junk it out and get started on the On30 layout we've been conversing about. I may compromise and do a 10' On30 shelf layout to get a feel for it. Maybe the town section of the bigger layout or a switching layout...
