    Remotoring Atlas 0-4-0

I have a circa 1970 Atlas 0-4-0 that used to be a fun little loco to run on the layout. However, I tried to run it yesterday and had smoke coming from the motor. I have tried to get it to run under DCC and DC but to no avail. Does anyone make a small motor that will repower this little loco?

    A morning chat

Another thread in one of the forums is titled "The reason I love this hobby". It caught my eye when I browsed thru just now and I thought I might share a thought. At our church's Men's group monthly breakfast this morning, I salvaged the cardboard tube that came from the 36" wide roll of vinyl...

    Phantom Running

Has any one else experienced this? I use the Digitrax Radio Chief on my layout. Some times I just run multiple trains on the mainlines. I have had as many as 8 separate trains (which includes 3 sets of 2 MUed locos) moving at a time. Last night I was just running 3 trains on the 2 mainline...

    Stats

Is there any way that the "who's online" stats at the bottom of the page could be made more meaningful? As they are now, our guests are lumped with the address and subject "bots". For instance as I enter this there are 14 "guagers", about 40 actual guests and 167 miscellaneous "bots" on line...

    My new favorite

:D I received my Pioneer Zephyr right after the first of the year and waited a couple of weeks to get the decoder for it. The assembly of the Zephyr and installation of the decoder took about 30 minutes. Another 15 minutes for programming and it runs great. It is so quiet that I have to look...

    Seattle Switch Yard

My son just finished his training with the BNSF and is now working at one of the switching locations in Seattle. I haven't had a chance to talk to him since he received his assignment but he indicated that I could get "up close and personal" with some of the motive power on our next trip out to...

Train show - DC part 2 of???

At Mikey's suggestion I am going to post in groups of about 10-12 pix to keep the threads smaller. This was a cute animated module. A small airplane taxis out of the hangar, takes the active and takes off flying thru the backdrop to do it again.

    Atlas GP9 - slow start

I am looking for some help in improving the performance of one of the Atlas GP9 Torpedo Tube locos that I purchased last year from Tony's Trains. I had the decoder installed. Every other decoder equiped loco the I have including a Bachman 2-8-0 begins to move at speed step 1. Even most of my...

    Greenburg Show, Washington, DC

Photos from the Greenburg Show, Washington, DC I just got back from day 1 of the show and wanted to put some of the pics up. This show was bigger than last years event and had 6 clubs displaying everything from "n" to "Lionel "0" gauge. The "G" gauge "switchback" display was missing this...

    start- stop-move a wall

Well, after the winter and spring water in the basement, my layout progress has been pretty well shut down. I have done some scratchbuilding but track, scenicing, plaster, etc. is at a standstill. I had finished the basement a couple years after we bought the house but the rain got us this...

    Cardboard Structures everywhere

I started to do a "how I do windows in my cardboard structures" for this project but as I got more involved in it I forgot to take the photos to go along with it. So I will try again on the next one. This structure was a bit of a challenge as it has 6 and 10 ft windows that have an arch at...

    latest effort

I found another source of materials while cleaning out an office file the other day. We used "invitation" sized cards to send out new product announcements. the company logo changed so these cards were no longer needed. They became the materials for the Matthyro Freight Terminal that will be...

    A "Tyson" Forest

After the severe spring rains that left water standing in my basement and causing no end of grief in the layout room I decided that the best way to get out of the doldrums was to do something - anything on the layout. I have had boxes and "stuff" stacked off the floor and on the benchwork for...
