I need Help Identifying This Log Loader

Lidgerwood Tower Skidder Hi Eric, I'm mostly a lurker around these parts, but this time I think I may be able to help! What you have is a photo of is a Lidgerwood Tower Skidder. In my opinion, one of the most fascinating pieces of logging equipment ever assembled. The link below has all...

Just curious, what camera are you using

Wow, what a tip, thanks Shamus! I've been using the "Auto" setting so far (I'm not much of a photographer), this should make my "pretty good for a rookie" pictures almost stunning! :D Stan

Just curious, what camera are you using

Shamus, Based mostly on the quality of the pictures you are able to take with your camera, I purchased an Olympus C-750. I can't say enough about this camera! It's been a wonderful tool (and toy) so far. :thumb: I just wish I had some of my own model railroad scenes to photograph. :cry...

    Victoria BC

Hi Mike, There was a pretty good store called Pacific Scale Rail in Victoria, but I think they may be gone now. But all is not lost, if you can find your way to the Empress Hotel (an old CP hotel) at the waterfront, you'll find a place called Miniature World. It's a wonderful world...

    Jackpot! (logging info sites)

How to Build a Log Bridge (link) Hello All, I came across this link of how to build a log bridge using a modern excavator, but it looks like the design principal behind it has been around for some time. Hope folks can find a use for this...

    Home Cut Lumber

Thanks for the tip Ron, but I'm going to be using some harder woods in my scratch building, and knowing my luck, I may slice off more from my fingers than the wood! Walt, that's a nice looking sanding setup! It reminds me of the homemade one I used about 15 years ago in the...

    Home Cut Lumber

Jon, I think you're absolutely right about not needing a tilting blade on such a small saw. What am I gonna do, miter the corners on my 1 1/2" thick siding???? NOT! :D I suppose the big question is now small table saw vs. small band saw? If you look strictly at manufacturing scale lumber...

    Home Cut Lumber

SWEEEEET! :D Thanks for the info, Rusty. Guess I should change my Christmas wish list to include a small band saw! ;) I've also just had a peek at your web site, and may have to borrow some of your bench work ideas! (beautiful looking mine, by the way) I'll keep my eyes peeled for...

    Home Cut Lumber

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Vic, I think I'm going to put the MicroMark Micro-Lux saw on my Christmas wish list, it's pretty slick! (check out http://www.micromark.com/). Good idea, Arlaghan. I might just buy the non scale 2x4s from the hobby shop and cut the bigger stuff myself...

    Home Cut Lumber

Hello All, I was having great debate with myself whether to purchase or scratch-build a large HO scale sawmill complex for my as of yet non existent railroad. BTS makes a beautiful sawmill, but when you convert the price to Canadian dollars.....yikes, I'd be broke in no time! So I'm...

BINGO! Jon, that's the one, it's purty! Thank you very much. Andrew, that park is on Cortes Island which lies off Vancouver Island (off the coast of BC) at the northern end of the Strait of Georgia. Yakko, now why didn't I think of that!?!? Thanks everybody! Stan

    Need New Avatar

Hello Everybody! As you can see just to the left, I currently have an avatar of Marvin the Martian (gotta loooove that alien). He's pretty nifty (if not somewhat fuzzy), but he just doesn't say "Steam Donkey". Not to mention the copyright infringement! I've looked all over...

Ooh ooh ooh!! Jon, those are beuts! I've really gotta come out of lurking more often, look at all this stuff I've missed! Did you say you would come up with a drawing and parts list if anybody wanted them? Oh boy, that would be me. If you would, that be just jim-dandy! I could use...

    The world's best layout?

WOW!!!!!! Now this has got to be one of the most amazing layouts I have ever seen! The sheer size and detail are incredible, there must be hundreds if not thousands of LPBs in the soccer (football) stadium alone! The technology is even more impressive. My German is "nicht so gut", so with...
