Shamus, what's the wattage on those bulbs? I guess they're fairly small for such a long exposure time. (Of course I say this not knowing much about photograhy):) :)

And then there's the price to consider... Gold $285/oz Platinum $450/oz Lead $500/ton Uranium(U3 08) $10/pound These are market prices. I imagine it's pretty tough to get any uranium. You'd have to order a few pounds of it to get that 'bulk' price.:D

This sounds like a good idea. The industry/building being modelled could be linked with an appropriate type of rolling stock both using the common logo. (I'm thinking of maybe a brewery ;) Think of the slogans!) As for the "contest" part you could have a separate category for buildings and...

I agree with Gary's dimensions for roads. Typical lane widths vary from about 10' to 12' wide depending on their use (ie rural vs. freeway). As for clearance, today's standards are about 15' to 16' feet for modern 'bridges'. To round it off in HO scale 1.5" per lane and 2" to 2.25" clearance...
