    Show your Artwork

Shamus, Since I'm not very up to date on this stuff, what is "freehand 9", how does it work and where do you get it. Sure looks good, and I need all the help I can get, no good at all in the field of art. Thanks,

Time to Push for Amtrak $$

Let's all hope for the best on this, perhaps once and for all we will have a national system that works, it can be done, and it can also go coast to coast if it's approached right. This may take years, but what a thing for our generation to pass on to our children and their children. Dave...

Time to Push for Amtrak $$

According to what the headlines are talking about it today it looks like in 90 days there will be a major change of some sort. I would cast my first vote to change the name to "National Rail" or something along those lines. It appears AmTrack as we know it now will no longer exist. A...

Time to Push for Amtrak $$

I agree with a lot of things Bob has stated. No, the air lines were not the only thing that brought passenger service to an end, super highways played a major roll too. (along with, and in combination of other things) Railroads were already in trouble and to try and keep passenger service...

    Diesel acceleration

2 is the most correct, it takes quite a bit of time for power units to get enough built up to move, even if it's a light move. Thats why they "gun it" and then back off, like wise it takes time to slow the power down, making option #2 still the correct one. Sounds like you have a very...

Time to Push for Amtrak $$

I would be more than happy to back any funding for AmTrak provided they (AmTrak)had a proven record to the good. They however don't even come close. To pump more money into something that has such a poor preformance record such as they is only throwing good money after bad. Lets face...

    Surging Loco

Grant, Welcome to TG, in regards to your problem w/Athern PAs, I found that the eletcrical connections sometimes were at fault. You can remove the long copper connections on top of the motor and weld a wire going to the forward and rear supply to the gear boxes. I found this often clears up...

Model Railroading on the way down?

I agree with all of you, you have brought up many valid reasons for decline not only in modeling but other areas as well. I really think the fact that trains of today all look the same is one reason for this lack of interest in our hobby. Before I reached the age of 15 I had traveled 84,000...

Model Railroading on the way down?

I think one big problem the magazines have is they have run out of new things to talk about. It's always the same, possibly a new never before see model rialroad that some guy with lots of money (and a few rich friends) put together. But I'm tired of looking at and reading about it. that's...

    Amazin'

Bob, The stuff dries faster if you don't look, and especially if you don't "check" on it. Sounds like your doing well and are way ahead of me. My last "pike" is in little bits and pieces, what's left of it. Will try and get a good start on a new one this fall. To pin track down and check it to...
