Here is the Huygens-Cassini Saturn mission Titan lander
Designed by Retired_for_now
The Huygens probe is the most distant man-made object on a moon/planet. It soft landed on Saturn's moon, Titan and returned unprecedented pictures of the moon's surface during descent and after landing. The surface looks "normal," except the atmosphere is very thick, cold nitrogen, the "rocks" are water ice, the "water" is liquid methane and ethane (natural gas), and the "soil" is complex organics (tar?).
Modeled at 1:12, it can be built simply for soft landing in the backyard sandbox or with more detail for display.
