This is not exactly 'Off Topic', as I'm sure I am not the only paper modeller that has/had this problem.......

I am gonna commit mass genocide soon.... DEATH TO THE MASSES!
KILL THEM ALL!

These little f@##()rs.... http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silverfish

Anybody have any other suggestions how to preserve my models against these ****** ***** ##### ******DEMONS??

There is not much left of the print, on the upper surface of the wings of my DC3 display model.
So, that means another bloody rebuild......

GRRRRRRR!

thank you for restraining yourself, are your models already built or printed pages waiting to be cut?

You can re-sin the top. Hell, if e did it on real planes, I am sure you can do it on your model. I would spray a specific poison on the inside surface of the model., then on top, bottom, then, clear coat the whole model. This will lock in the agent, and it should repel them as these horrid creatures are usually very sensitive to this. The only other solution is the one I want to try, making the model out of aluminum flashing from Home Depot! This packs are supposed to deal with them. lightly attached to the top of the wings, and inside, where you can't see them, might do the trick.

@spaceagent-9 Unfortunately, the model is already built.. :(

@zathros I'm slightly concerned with what effect spraying the model with poison will have on the print. Hopefully it wont react with the ink in anyway.
I will have to have a hunt around here and see what I can find to use in this country. The packs look like a good idea.... thumbsup

Otherwise, I'm gonna create an army of paper craft nanobots as a first line of defense .... ;)

WTF?

BUUUGS!!! - LET'S KILL THEM ALL!!!

Oh my, I had no idea that they would do that. I'm very sorry, Dan. I think the info on this matter is very useful.

Do they penetrate plastic bags?

Do they penetrate plastic bags?

Haha.... I'm not sure that the display effect of the DC3 would be quite the same wrapped in a plastic bag. :p
But on that note: Discovery has been wrapped in a plastic bag for nearly 2 years, and no apparent damage can be found on that, thank goodness......... :D

The only reason that I noticed the problem, was I am STILL not happy with the display brick effect of my DC3. I am going to completely redo the brickwork from scratch. It will be better than trying to blend old with new, so to speak. The 'brick lips' problem still screams at me from the wall every night. It just does not fall right on my eye ......... (For those who dont know what I'm talking about, see here: http://zealot.com/threads/the-alan-rose-dc-3-by-danbking.176560/page-2#post-994322 )
I took the DC3 model off of the display board last night, to prepare for removing the current brickwork over the weekend, and saw the damage that has been caused by the little *******s. As you probably noticed, I am not very happy!! :rage:

But, like they say: Everything happens for a reason........
I just wish that somebody would tell me what the reason is!!!! ;):)

I'd go with a cloud effect, cotton, cotton puffs spray painted different shades of blue. You could even have the cotton strands from the bottom Puffs, combed and give it the look of following parts of the aerodynamic air flow. Make it look like it's coming out of a cloud, that would be so freakin' awesome, beautiful too. :)

p.s. I don't think the poison would have a problem if you let it dry, and if you are using Pigment Ink, which is deposited heated from the printer Nozzle, and cools instantly. ;)

Mmmm, Certainly food-for-thought, for a totally new version of the DC3 display. ;)

Correct, at least the bug(gers) who destroyed yours where mindlessly following instinct....

Controlling the homicidal feelings took a great deal of self-control. And muttered comments about the gene selection that caused those people to be like they were. And more comments about IQ and not appreciating skill. And being ham-fisted. And more questions if the Missing Link visited my study. And having several missing chromosomes. And ....

I digress somewhat :)

Between '72 and '99..... Alberton, Benoni, Linmeyer, Weltevreden Park, Kempton Park...... 1 1/2 yrs in Cape Town (beautiful!) and a few years in Swakopmund, Namibia (or as it was then, South West Africa....)

I still find it amusing that GAUTENG is an anagram for GET A GUN !!!!! ;):):D

Dan,
Did you seal the model after it was finished? I wonder if they would bother a model that's been sprayed with clear lacquer, or Krylon clear finishes......

Stupid of me, no, I never got around to doing it............ I got too carried away with the display base for it and just forgot..... :banghead:

A very good point though, Mike, as I did 'clear coat' my Frost Dragon, and have absolutely no damage, but the model was also pumped full of expanding foam....... Maybe that also had a helping effect....
