This section is for those who use Pepakura.
You can start a thread and post what you wish on instruction and technique. If you make a model and wish to distribute it through ZEALOT, then upload it to the DOWNLOAD Section and place a link to it.
Tutorials are we are looking for here, as well as design threads, which would show the technique in use, and the end results. State that the Thread is a tutorial thread and its intended purpose, and what you will be focusing on.

These threads will be really read, so expect a big following!!!
Threads should name their specific intent. Tutorials on using Pepakura, How to apply texture, etc., and all of the tricks.
Questions should be thought out, but there are no dumb questions, only dumb answers. So don't feel afraid to ask. Make sure you have read the thread first, so that you are not asking a question that has been answered.

I for one, will be interested in this forum. I just DLd Pepakura to my Mac Pro to look into some design of structures for my model RR. *(I run Mac OSX and Windows 7 side by side)*
I have the attention span of a gnat these days. Having a ready reference forum will help me out. I'm new to the designing of paper models. My specific era of RRing (Texas/Indian Territory 1850/1870) makes it near impossible to find ready to fold pieces, so making my own is my last resort.

so small question, what exactly is pepakura? I have heard of it before, but I have no idea what it is. I have seen some of the results of it and they are absolutely amazing!

Pepakura is a program for designing and unfolding models.
Here is the link to the site: http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/
Most of the designers who make armor will use this program.
If you download a model that was designed in Pepakura (you will know because it will be in .pdo format), you will need (at least the view, which is free to download) in order to build the model.
There are some designers that will use this program as their "instructions" for a model that they designed and the kit is in .pdf format.

You are more than welcome.
Good luck with it. When you do make the armor, please post photos.
I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

There are quite a few members here who have started threads on making different types of armor.
Here is one thread in particular: http://www.zealot.com/threads/halo-spartan-wip.173692/
Send this guy a private message and see if he is able to give you any ideas, pointers, or tips on how to improve your skills.
Not only that, but search throughout the forum to see what all you can find on such and make contact with the people who started the different threads to see what they may say and if they can give you advice as well.

Either way, I wish you the best of luck with all that you do.!

For building models, car models, or ship models, do you guys build everything on pepakura? As in option 1: you build the model, skin it, and then disassemble it on the same program, or option 2: you build the model on another program, then upload it to pepakura? If you build the model on a separate program, and then import it on pepakura, which program do you use?

from what I have seen it is designed in a separate program then imported into pepakura. I may be wrong, but I don't believe that you can actually create in pepakura (don't quote me). I have seen several AutoCAD programs used along with google sketch up, and blender. I know there are some other ones, but off the top of my head I cant think of them. depends on your skill level in some of these programs, which one you may like. AutoCAD and sketch up because I have experience in AutoCAD and sketch up is actually pretty simple to make things in. well they all are once you know what you are doing.

You are correct. You cannot create new models using Pepakura.
However, Pepakura does give you some limited options for editing an existing model.
-- join open edges, delete objects, split edges (i've yet to try this).
-- it also allows you to play around with the textures via swapping/changing bitmap files.

yeah.. im am not messing with that kind of stuff. I simply want it so I can print out the model. I can do all that stuff after building it. I just printed out my first model from it. I cant wait to start building my republic commando DC-17m
