I think I will take the advice to use an elevated crossover instead. Thank you everyone for your help.

    Dual Cross overs??

I hope this is the right place to ask. If not where? Does anyone know where I can get information on how to get or build a O-27/On30 crossover? I am trying to create a dual gauge layout and need to cross the On30 (ie HO) gauge track over a O-27 loop. Or am I just dreaming?

Union Pacific-Good news/Bad news- beware dialup users

I was just e-mailed this from a usually reliable co-worker: For those who believe nothing exciting ever happens in Kansas, except tornados and explosions, check this out . The Good news: It was a normal day in Sharon Springs, KS when a Union Pacific crew boarded a loaded coal train to head on...

    Track screws??

I am at the point now where I am screwing my track down. I was told that nails used long term would work themselves out and be a problem(true?). I am running HO Power-loc track on top of grass paper covered plywood. I have in my layout an over-under fig8. My question is where do all of you cost...

Compatability of Different Brands of Track

There is a transition piece for Life-Like Power-Loc track that allows you to connect to all other track (of that code and no I don't know which it is probably 80 or 100 HO) http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/433-21344

    HO layout for comments

Here is my HO track plan for comment and/or discussion. Each figure 8 is on its own 4x8 table as is the switch yard. It has one oval suspended directly on top of the other. The upper oval extends down to the switch yard only as far as the yelow line. There are two pair of turnouts on each fig8...

    Question about direction

Thank you all for your replies. I most likely will be operating alone. However I will be operating at least two trains most of the time. My comments were assuming that I will have passenger service on the one loop(which will need more attention the way I plan to run them) and then a single track...

    Question about direction

Sorry brakie, but I don't understand your first comment due to the fact there are for now no industries on my layout. My plan was to have a minimalist layout where trains have stops on the dedicated passenger loop on the top. The lower loop I invision as one long siding of a greater line that...

    Question about direction

Got a picture!!!!! Again one oval directly on top of the other. There are two sets of turnouts on each fig8 (for a total of 4)that connect the fig8 to the lower and upper oval. This way a train can travel from the lower oval up one fig8 to the upper oval and then down the other fig8 back to the...

    Question about direction

Triplex(and others)... No I dont have a double track fig 8... My layout is 4x16 with a fig 8 on each 4x8 and two ovals around the whole thing(one oval above the other). This way I have an elevated passenger loop and a grade freight loop in the same space. I use the two fig 8's to connect the...

What Do You Do If You Have No Sheet Of Wood

If you ask nicely most larger places will cut plywood to size for you. You will have to buy the whole sheet but at least you won't have to by a saw. Or you could always try cutting it using a $10 hacksaw, but I wouldn't recomend that. Also you could buy some of the snap together track that is...

    Question about direction

My question was meant to be in the context of evaluating the layout designs in this forum. Some are the smaller layouts and when I look at them I noticed that no one ever says which direction they are running. I was wondering if there was some convention/rule or other way to tell, that I don't...
