Thank you, but still need help

I would suggest you read this thread http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32122 at Model Railroader Magazine forum. Joe Fugate also has a terrific site with lots of great info and photos.

New Photos of Deere Valley & Western

Ron, The telegraph wires are made of Rayon Embroidery Thread. I tried regular cotton thread and a metallic thread, but both were too "out of scale" and didn't sag well. The Embroidery thread worked well as it will sag on its own after about a week or so. I also tried black and brown, but...

New Photos of Deere Valley & Western

Well, since I did a bunch of detail work recently and have the layout 99.9% complete, I thought I would take a ton of photos. Especially since the layout will likely be scrapped in the not too distant future. I was planning on demolition this spring, but the time involved for saving $$ for the...

    P2K E6 Question

Ok, here's my dumb question of the week. Does anybody know if the Life-Like Proto 2000 Union Pacific E6A's have lighted numberboards? I know they have the Mars light, but haven't found any info on numberboard lighting.

    Currrent Progress, Now what??

Wow! Very impressive, I wish I would have used 2" foam instead of 1" without an underlayment so I could have brought my track down in the back! Keep up the good work. Ray

    Building Lighting

I use mainly 14/16v GOW and GOR bulbs in most of my buildings. Gives a nice soft incandescent glow. In buildings that I want a brighter light, I use 12v. I have also used 12v small automotive bulbs (like for side markers) in some larger brightly lit buildings,(like my Engine House, Church, JD...

    Anyone using XTrkCad?

Just my 2 cents worth, but one of the features that I like about XTrkCad is the ability to run a loco around the tracks. Finds all the mistakes and unconnected sections!

Layout design software for model railroading

I have used Atlas Right Track software for my current layout using Atlas track. Easy to used and you can print out a full size template! (4x8 took about 60 pages as I remember) I am now using XTrkCad since my new layout will be using HO Kato Unitrack. Both work very well and have an easy...

Model power: Cheap junk? or an alterative to the big guys?

I have used a number of Model Power building kits, and with some serious detailing and weathering (cost, almost zero) they look as good as the expensive buildings on my layout. I have their Coaling Tower, Haunted House and one shed and they look great. See my photos at the address on my...

    MU hose's/brake lines/gald hands

You could try using the insulation from 30 gauge flexible wire that radio shack has. I use it for mounting decoders in Steam Loco tenders and the super flexible wires go to the loco and don't bind. I use the black, which looks about the same size as brake hoses. Though I haven't tried any...

    4x8 Layout Photo Site

George, All Atlas Code 100 Sectional track except for one piece of flex that was used to fill in where sectional wouldn't in two places. Next Layout in the works is 6x11 using Kato Unitrack. Ray

    4x8 Layout Photo Site

Hi all, Thought I would finally share some photos of my 4x8 HO layout before demolition this spring. This layout has a lot of action for its size and it is not uncommon to find 5 consists running at once. (Thanks to DCC) The plan is in the works for a new 6x11 and hopefully much of this...
