    What a MESS

Apparently you know more about it than I do. But just in case you don't, look up latency (hint: It has to do with how well your six satellite systems work with certain applications that can't tolerate the delay.) Look up rural (hint: Broadband service in many if not most of rural America is...

    Trying to Identify.

Whoops. I should have mentioned, the measurement is taken inside to inside. Sorry about that. However, extrapolating from the one inch, it very much looks like that engine is S scale. It may very well may be American Flyer. Is that "brass" actually just paint, or are those separate detail items...

I'm pretty sure this bug has been slain. I'm no longer having any login problems, either. :):):):)

    Trying to Identify.

You posted in N/Z Trains. Perhaps this is the wrong forum, if it is or may be American Flyer equipment. To my knowledge, AF has never made anything that small. Can you measure the distance between the rails and post the dimension, please. That will help to identify the scale.

    European power supply

Transformers designed for a 60 Hz that are operated on 50 Hz will have a lower input impedance when operating on 50 Hz power. Because of this, the transformer will run hotter and may overheat. Transformers designed for 50/60 Hz operation will have been designed to minimize the overheating. It...

New Post Link - Get rid of other hobbies

Thanks, nolatron. FWIW, I just logged in automatically (it works again, it works again :) :) :)) using my old bookmark. No problems, but the above probably will be a little quicker without the redirect.

    What a MESS

Inline Images Since some people are complaining about limits on inline images, let me give my druthers. No inline images. Why, because people abuse them by posting a ton of huge images to discussion threads (versus photo threads). This may be fine for those with broadband connections, but it...

MOre Weirdness Thanks, 91rioja. I'll see if that makes a difference for me, too.

    Trouble Logging In

I get the following message when I try to log in: "In order to accept POST request originating from this domain, the admin must add this domain to the whitelist." This is with my correct user name and password. In order to actually log in I have to try to log in with the wrong password and get...

    What a MESS

I'm having a similar problem. It starts fine, then all of a sudden, it switches to Weird Mode (TM), and my 1600 pixels across aren't enough. Hopefully, it's just teething problems. Hey, I really like the colors now. Add smileys don't work. Just imagine the 'cool' emoticon that is...

Anyone have a Building Plan for a HO Tressel Bridge?

Here you go. This should be useful if the area you have to span isn't too deep. Trestle bent design gets progressively more complicated as the bents get taller. http://www.sdrm.org/history/sda/photos/h36.jpg

    Turnouts

The switch is the moving part of the turnout in prototype terms, too. The "turnout instead of switch" story seems to be something that was invented by the modelling press. I recall reading an article about the Shinohara "factory." It was nothing more than a small number of people building...

    European power supply

What does the DCC manufacturer say regarding the voltage and frequency of the input power? You have to meet those requirements. Transformers do not convert frequency. They are, however, frequency sensitive, and should not be operated outside their specifications.

    ? about ballast ....

Funny you should mention that. When I used to walk the tracks as a kid, I never did see any weeds between the rails. The only thing I saw laying there were . . . . . Well, never mind.
