Thanks for continuing Jay!
For anyone reading that has used Blender, how easily would these instructions transfer, or do the programs work so differently that it would not apply at all?
Thanks!
Rick
Jay, another thanks for doing this. It will be a big job to do all of the great tutorials you've outlined! I've been wanting to learn to do this, but find the tools to be a bit, err.... unapproachable... And this from a person pretty handy around a PC. I'm looking forward to seeing stepwise...
Great job! And that was REALLY fast! Thanks for the tip about the circle template for petal forming. I hate petal parts and always struggle with them. I'm sure I can make use of this tip! I've often stood at the craft store staring at various drafting tools (templates, erasing shields, etc)...
BB 55 is in Dry Dock
At this point I'm shelving this build. As I reached the back of the main superstructure and tried to build upon it, I ran into a real mess. The deck was very uneven and I could not correct it by this point. Then the next parts to go on did not fit well at all and once...
No, I have no other 1:400 to compare. I'm just saying that for similar size structures that have to hold shape, regardless of scale, it seems thin. But I'm not a boat guy (yet), so I may be off a bit :)
eib,
Once I saw the problem I should have gone ahead and started reinforcing but I didn't (lazy). When I realized how bad it had become and how it was going to affect subsequent steps it was really too late, as I had the main superstructure (which was the worst culprit) in place. I don't...
Just a little progress. Main superstructure first, then most of the fore superstructure in place.
I have noticed 3 things about this model that I don't like. First, there are color registration problems here and there. Not a big deal, but still... Second, parts fit is kinda hit and miss...
