adding a sound decoder to Atlas Engine

Christmas has come and past and now I need to upgrade my toy that I got for a present. I received an Atlas Silver Series SD35 locomotive in PRR colors :thumb: and would like to upgrade it to sound and DCC. The locomotive is DCC ready, currently no decoder installed, and appears to have a...

    What About Passenger Service?

The biggest issue is time for train travel. If I take my family to Florida, it is about 24 hours car ride (Long and probably requires a rest stop). 24 hours by train but drops us off not at the most convenient location. Looking into using the Auto-train but that has difficulties from where we...

    What About Passenger Service?

Observations that I have made in trying to find more affordable passenger travel. Planes have become too expensive for family travel. The first thing I have found is the autotrain from VA to FLA. Great Idea and saves on the rental car problem. Wish it would travel from the Northeast, outside...

kinda off topic - oil prices!

I have always tried to think positive. I have trouble listening to the news networks and being told how bad everything in the economy is and then reading the business section and seeing how well US and Canadian companies are doing. As long as the gov't doesn't go down the socialistic disaster...

kinda off topic - oil prices!

The issue of gas prices is killing everyone. Mandated ethanol blends is killing gas mileage. I speculate that I acutally burn more gas than I did before the mandates were put in. Case and point. With 10% ethanol, I am lucky to get 22 mpg. Without ethanol 28 mpg. approximately 20% better...

    CSX...Please 'splain....

Everything discussed shows the efficiency of scale, a train can carry alot of stuff long distances cheaply. Trucks do a great job carrying stuff short distances or to remote locations effectively. The trend is returning to trains for long haul and trucks for short. I recently read where...

    Economic Stimulas Check

Part of mine went for a proto2000 GP7, the rest got sent to the oil company so that I can make sure the boss doesn't take a cold shower.

    Prr Hh-1

I don't believe that there are any T1 survivors, too bad, but now that I think of it, I do believe that the T1's were Brunswick Green. I typically model the smaller engines due to size constraints and didn't spend a lot of time on the bigger engines (more modern if you can say that for steam)...

Here is some information on Pennsey paint KC: The Right Paint Give it a look and see if it is helpful. The steam loco were typically black. The electric locomotives were usually Brunswick Green (Almost black) or Tuscan Red.

    Thinking About Switching

Here is my solution especially since I don't like to throw anything away (bad habit). I have been very interested in a coffee/end table layout to display and have fun with in my family room. Just a thought.

    Heavy PRR Steam

I am so glad that you posted those pics of your model. I would love to have one but my layout radius would not allow it. Great Job, Big heavy PRR steam is the best. (The views and opinions on this post is only the opinion of the writer and does not reflect the views and opinions of the...
