    Foam Plastic

I'm in SoCal and I found some at Home Depot. It was the white foam but it's not the same as described earlier. It was about $19.00 dollars each for a 4X8 sheet, 2 inches thick. That's what I used for the subterrain. I was planning on picking up a few more sheets later on for the mountains...

How many unfinished projects do you have....

Hmmm... let me see.... Well there's all of the Athearn kits untouched in the box. O yeah... The entire layout. I have the track layed to test but I my wife won't let me out into the garage for more than 5 minutes at a time to rip it back up and lay the roadbed. sigh....

    Lashing

I see alot of lashing going on, especially with the rear loco in reverse as in real life. Question is, Whats the best way to lash two locos together and get them to run together? I figure the only way to do it right is to program (DCC) the locos to the same channel. Am I far off? Jeff

    Bachman programming

I reprogrammed the cheap bachman and it worked fine. I think that the want you you to use the resistor on user installed decoders. Just in case you screw something up. Thanks again all.

    Bachman programming

I'm just afraid that I'll fry my loco. Maybe I'll reprogram the Cheap Bachman to another number instead...hehe.

OIC. So if this is a DCC on board, I shouldn't have to worry to much about it? Jeff

    Proto vs Athearn

The Athearn runs pretty smooth. I think I'll pick up a couple more basic models. Sounds like they are all equal and it all comes down to personal choice. Thanks for all of the responses. Jeff

    Bachman programming

Nah, have'nt even attempted it. I wouldnt even bother but my Athearn came programmed to channel three and I have another engine programmed to that one. I'll hit a radio shack near work tomorrow. The one down the street only has Ipods, cell phones, and robo toys. Does anyone remember when you...

    Bachman programming

Thanks Squidbait. I wasn't sure if it was to protect it from a surge or not. I will probably get the resistor anyway just to be sure.

    Proto vs Athearn

I went cheap with the Bachman. I figured I would only run two, maybe three locomotives at one time. Most likely two, due to the size of my track. I might run two frieght lines and a switcher instead of the passenger line that I was thinking of.

    Proto vs Athearn

It's sweet...I think I did ok and the price was right. I just have to reprogram it to my controller which means I have to set up a programming track and that sounds like a pain in the ass.

    Bachman programming

Bachman says a resistor from radio shack is required for the programming track. Is it true that without it, you can damage the locomotive?

    Proto vs Athearn

Had to go with Athearn. Wathers was out of everything that I wanted. My hobby shop had a Santa Fe SD45 with DCC and sound on sale so I picked that one up. I was hoping for something in the 60's era but early seventies will be just fine.

Problem! I bought wrong number switch tracks

I'm sure they'll work with you if they want your future business. If you are using flex track then you should be able to play with the track. You could set the turn outs up and fudge the rest.

    Hello need a track plan

Sounds fun. I'll play. Gimme some time. Anyone else? O... 10X12 room or table space?
