    Mi-28 HAVOC

I don't mean to be rude and contradict you Charlie, but quite a few of Maly kits have already fallen into the collectible category - the very first issue 1/1957, is fetching between $300 and $500 (sometimes more) on auction sites. I don't know exact prices but I do know that kits from 50s and...

    New Orlik release

You're right about colors: in the P-40N construction report from Konradus, someone commented on the poor print and color quality, and the author responded that his copy does not have any visible coloring problems... On the other hand here is this TS-11 Iskra construction report and the...

    New Orlik release

Just as GPM or Fly Model (or most others) and unlike Halinski, Orlik uses many designers, so in this case the designer might be the better indicator for the quality of a model. A few of the Orlik's models turned out very well: TS-11 Iskra, Jelcz firetruck, P-40N, MS-406, D-520, Gloster G-40...

    Opinions about kits

You are absolutely right. Many kits do not have enough assembly diagrams and in too many cases instructions seem incomplete. Halinski has excellent instructions but I think that his models require more precision than most beginners are capable of. Also a prospect of assembling a single engine...

    Opinions about kits

Here are my few cents on the publishers whose models I built: Halinski s.c. (Kartonowy Arsenal, Military Model) - best print, best fit, best end effect. Those are some of the most impressive card models ever. They do require a high degree of accuracy. Even a smallest mistake can resonate...

    cutting carboard?

Yes, I have two pairs of fiskars. Two different sizes. One like the pictured pair and one much larger. I used them both extensively until I have seen the pictures from J.C. van den Bergh's build of Radomka (http://www.strangeplace.com). On the very first picture you can see the incredibly...

    cutting carboard?

With all due respect Gil: it does not matter how sharp they are. By design scissors cut by crushing material between two blades. There will always be flattening. When high degree of precision is needed (Halinski models for example) scissors just don't cut it. Do not hesitate to try the...

    cutting carboard?

Cutting with scissors will flatten the edges of the part you are cutting out which is not so good for formers... For best results I suggest you use razor blades for scrapers or X-Acto knife and after cutting out the part, sand it down to perfection. Razor blades are dirt cheap - much cheaper...
