    recommended HO online suppliers

Thanks Zelda, I myself do have a small 00 scale outfit (I'm an exPat Brit who's a GWR and LMS fan), and have used some of those guys. My friend is all-American so it'll have to be Santa Fe for him!!

Hhmmm, I guess. I've used it before for N scale stuff, and find it's often not very complete and a beggar to use if you just want to browse. I think I'll take a rain check on that site! Thanks anyway!

    N Scale specific magazines.

I personally prefer NSR, but both are good reads. As mentioned here previously, see if you can get a look at both NS and NSR and then decide on whichever appeals most.

Hi folks - I'm usually an N-Scale (and 16mm Garden) railroader, but want to help a friend who wishes to start in HO for his boys and himself! I'm used to good deals in N from N-scale supply and Wig-Wag, and there's no good hobby shop for miles around. Anyone recommend a reliable online site...

Be part owner of new Baldwin steam Loco!!

At its opening in May 1898, the legendary narrow-gauge Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in North Devon was equipped with three Manning Wardle 2-6-2 tank engines. Two months later they were joined by a Baldwin 2-4-2 and all four locomotives were named after three-letter Devon rivers. The Baldwin was...

Brand New Steam Loco Now Operational

I realize this is ambiguous! Of course the rail authorities haven't 'lowered' bridges (d'oh), but the requirements of high speed running have meant that ballast beds are much deeper and so the track is in fact higher. Of course, that amounts to the same thing when you're trying to get a steam...

    Three Foot Gauge locos/stock Wanted

Hi folks - I'm posting on behalf of a preservation group in the UK who wishes to lay part of their line to 3' gauge. They are very keen to buy any 3' rolling stock that might be available: 1. Preferably a steam loco in working order or near working order; and/or a diesel 2. Passenger cars 3...

Brand New Steam Loco Now Operational

They also had to make Tornado one inch lower than the original, as the UK rail authorities couldn't guarantee mainline running otherwise! Seemingly the height of bridges etc has lowered slightly in the post-steam era!!

Brand New Steam Loco Now Operational

Tornado Yes, it's an amazing achievement! If you go to Youtube and enter Tornado A1 into the search facility, several recent videos come up, including some of the trials taking place now on the Great Central Railway. Tornado is currently in Works grey, but will be repainted soon into the first...

UK Visit to Mid-Hants & Swanage Railways

I'm also a member of the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway - a two foot gauge railway in North Devon aiming to rebuild the 20 odd miles of that line that closed in the 30s. Unfortunately my camera wasn't working on my Easter trip, but here are some pics from other sources

UK Visit to Mid-Hants & Swanage Railways

It stands for 'Welsh Highland Railway'. There are in fact 2 organiziations with similar titles. The WHR (Caernarfon) are owned by the Ffestiniog Railway and are buidling from Carnarfon to Porthmadog (over 20 miles); should be complete this summer. The much smaller WHR (Porthmadog) runs mainly...
