    Thank you to MasonJar

I wanted to say thank you to MasonJar. A few months ago I posted that I needed some plans for an old Suydam roundhouse kit. MasonJar knew he had the plans, and I just received a copy in the mail today. That is what I like about MR, so many people are so helpful when you need something...

    Prodigy

Instead of hitting the recall button, hit loco and then #3. You should then be able to use #3 as a loco instead of a consist. Also, you may want to delete the consist from the recall stack. You should be able to find this in the manual.

    Loco Headlights

This can happen when the decoder is set for 14 speed steps and the command station is set to 28 or 128 as well. Check to make sure the speed steps are synchronized between the decode and PA.

    HO Bachmann Shay Decoder

Hammerli, I did have to cut the yellow capacitor on my Shay. It is in the directions of the Soundtraxx decoder. I have actually had to cut one leg of a capacitor on all of my Spectrums when I add a decoder. I left one in and after a while the decoder began acting erratic. As far as price I...

    HO Bachmann Shay Decoder

I have the HO Bachmann 3 Truck shay (Cass Scenic RR #5). The Soundtraxx DSD-B3TS which you can get for around $60 drops right in to the third truck. You need to drill a small hole in the third truck floor and run speaker wires to the coal bin in the second truck for the speaker. The instructions...

    HO Bachmann Shay Decoder

I have the Soundtraxx drop in, and I think it sounds great. The installation is pretty straight forward and I have not had a problem with it at all.

    Trouble with MRC sound decoders

I had this exact problem with my MRC steam sound decoder. I contacted MRC and sent it in (with the original receipt). They replaced it free of charge. They did not give me a reason, but I think it was that the decoder was getting too hot.

BLI Loco Programming with MRC PA

I have a BLI Class A, and I have not had any problem programming it on the PA. In order to read back the CVs from the decoder, I had to put a resistor in the line to the programming track. If I remember correctly I had to program the address on my Class A using the long method though, unless I...

    Problems with Con-Cor HO Zephyr

There was a topic similar to this one over on the MRR forum about the Zephyr stalling. Here is the link: http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=43158

    Anyone use Locobuffer II

Nick8564, I finally got my LocoBuffer this weekend. You will need to get a separate 9-12V power supply if you want to isolate the current from the computer and the current from the command station. As far as the software, you will need to either purchase some commercial software or download...

    Anyone use Locobuffer II

I am planning on using DecoderPro from the JMRI. There are a bunch of software vendors that sell programming software, but DecoderPro is free for download and seems easy enough. You can get it at http://jmri.sourceforge.net/. I have not received my LocoBuffer yet so I have not been able to...

    Anyone use Locobuffer II

I just ordered one from Tony's Train Exchange for $58 + shipping. It was the best deal that I could find. I do not have it yet but it should be there by Monday. I beleive you need a Wall-wart power pack if you want it plugged in separately, or you can use the power from the computer to run it. I...

    Which DCC system...?

JD, I have the Prodigy Advanced and I think it is a great option. I got mine from Tony's Train Exchange about a year ago, and it was easy to set up and use. It has the capability to run 20 functions from the handheld, and it is easy to tell which engine you are controlling. The drawback is...
