Rolling stock storage - what do you do?

Hi, What's wrong with a home-made display-case with sliding glass or perspex? At least you can still see and enjoy your precious rolling stock when in storage! (Admitedly, you need some wall space for this!) Joe

Hello with a question about ballast

Hi all, I use a "Woodland Scenic" product called Scenic Cement - item No. S191. This is sprayed in a mist some 2 or 3 times over the carefully prepared ballast. Before dry, all you have to do is to wipe the surface of the track with a cloth. If any of the cement remains, it could be removed...

Problem with ballasting - need advice

Diode Matrix for operating Tirnout motors. Hi Ron, I have browsed on your website and noticed that you too have a diode matrix/Capacitor discharge unit to operate your turnouts. Also I have noticed that you too have an underboard "shadow station". I too would like to show you my layout...

    Changing to LED's in Locomotives?

Hi Guys, I have been browsing about this subject and would like to know if anyone has had any experience using the alternative "Sunny White" LEDs? http://www.richmondcontrols.com/sunwhite.htm ........ "It appears that the Golden White LED is the best choice for color, particularly when...

to make a double deck or not......

Hi Shlitz, If you have a 25' and want to go down 1' this means that your incline would be 1:25. This equals to 4.00% and would be on the steep side in my opinion. My layout is only 16' x 4', but I have found a way to 'hide' my helix. Your option may be to have a hidden helix as well...

Problem with ballasting - need advice

Hi Ron, Nice to hear from someone in Switzerland. I was there in 1999 and in 2000. Beautiful Country! I travelled from station to station taking photos since my layout is supposed to simulate this country. I already have some 20 Swiss locomotives in HO which are all Roco with the exception...

    Roco

Hi Guys, Thanks for your response. I tried to put a small bag of lead-shot over the tender - and it worked! - Absolutely no slippage - But there is no way I could hide this inside. There is no space. Since my helix is a double one, with trains going up and down it, I am able to send a...

to make a double deck or not......

Hi Guys, I too had to pass through this dilemma - one, or two decks. I have written my story on another forum. Any suggestions are welcome. http://www.marklin-users.com/applications/forum3/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=1036&SearchTerms=jcami's (I am seriously thinking of changing my...

    Roco

Hi All, I have a decently sized Roco collection and I am particularly pleased with my S3/6 Era 1 Steamer which has digital decoder with sound. The only thing is that I have problems when trying to make it go up my helix which has a 5% gradient. I have changed the tyres but to no avail. Any...

Hi all, I am still new to this site and am still learning how to use it. I have attached a picture to show the result of my previous reply on road beds and ballasting. I hope you like! Joe.

Problem with ballasting - need advice

Roadbed I use a dark grayish carpet underlay material some 4mm thick which I buy in widths of one and a half meters at a cost of $5 per sq. meter. I cut it in 2 inch strips and pass it through my driller mounted at 45 degrees with a circular saw cutter. This gives me the chamfer I need on...
