    Closing web site

To be honest, you probably aren't pulling in enough bandwidth to be costing more than $5-10 a month. I agree, check with a2.com, I have my website there and it cost about $3.99 a month, and that's with PHP, MySQL and other software goodies.

    Rebuilding a Bachmann

Cat fur. Nemesis to model trains. Look in all of your other ones for the same problems. Good job getting that one running! Next? Well, you could add a little more weight to make it able to pull the rolling stock better. But, with this loco(it's not considered a top end one) you may have...

New Extention 2 My HO Layout

    What glue?

Super glue. Get it in the runny liquid form or my favorite, Gel. Also comes in other varieties, with longer open work times. I personally have used only super glue so far, in my adult modeling endeavors. I never liked testors model glue.

    Need some input please!

The track, the buildings and the backdrops look great! I would think about adding some more spurs in the middle section of the sixth photo. Looks like good real estate for a few more industries. Is this a modular or sectional? I'm worried about you accessing your breaker panel, or your...

    Proto GP-27

Depends on the road and era. But mostly the short end. GTW ran long hood forward for many years.

New Extention 2 My HO Layout

Real Cement plant I disagree! here's a few shots of the St Mary's Cement Plant in Ontario. Sure, there's a lot of other stuff, but the silos and elevator are there, along with the conveyor. Probably want to add a monster pile of sand and aggregate somewhere.

You guys were right, and now i need to plan. :)

The picture doesn't appear to be working. However, sounds like a lot of interest. I wouldn't knock the radii, 27" ain't bad and is a fair sight bigger than a lot of folks' layouts.

    Actual track for Marlpost!

Very tidy! Good luck and please keep us posted.

You guys were right, and now i need to plan. :)

This is an old Armstrong layout, that MR magazine updated earlier this year. It is NOT a walk in, but gives you an idea of the kind of layout, where you have aisles inside the layout, instead of just walking around it . I recommend getting some of his books, including the Trackplanning for...

    Ballast question.

You just described slag. Dunno where they got it, but plenty of iron ore came south form canada and Northern Michigan (and others I suppose). I'm sure there's smelters somewhere. Detroit's Ford River Rouge plant used to smelt its own steel....

You guys were right, and now i need to plan. :)

A "G" or "C" shaped layout seems to speak to me for that space. Do you have John Armstrong's book on Operations? In it he describes what shape of layout fits in what size and shape of space, given your scale and druthers. I'd think about a walk in "G" shape, with it being wider towards the...

    Hold the foam???

Oh, plywood will warp under it's own weight, over a span of four feet to be sure. I store pieces out in my shop and if I don't have them supported across the whole width, or stored completely vertical, they'll sag, especially the 3/4" stuff. Sagging of sheet goods, even solid wood, under its...

    Athearn Bluebox

Here, does the FINALLY settle this thing, once and for all (at least for 2007)? Athearn releases 2007 blue box schedule. At approx 50 per page, that almost 300 new releases, including 3 new blue box F7s between August 06 and March 07. Shame I don't see any new GT rolling stock to go along...
