Searching for Help on gluing Soft Metal

Kevin thanks for your suggestions. I have washed the parts and have used JB Weld but since the parts are all visible I used a minimal amount and used the clamps. I have not used the file to make sure they are both flat and matching. Your idea for the wire seems like it would work but the pieces...

Searching for Help on gluing Soft Metal

I have been working on putting my Diamond Scale 134' Turntable together and have been having problems when trying to "Glue" some of the very soft metal parts together. The instructions refer to these as "Soft Metal Castings" and at one point "Zink Alloy Castings". These parts are very soft i.e...

    Nomad Valley R.R.

Loren there are several pieces of what the instructions refer to as "soft metal castings" . The material that the ladders are made of is the same material and it refers to them as "zink alloy castings" this material reminds me of lead since it is so soft, i.e., you can bed it real easy and can...

    Nomad Valley R.R.

 Loren. Thanks for sharing your new completed set up. I really like the trackwork. I am still working on the turntable that I got at auction a few months back. But gluing the soft metal pieces that need to be assembled is the berries. I can't seem to get any of the supposedly "real good...

    Inexpensive Bridge

Thanks for the comments. You know......before I joined here I had no idea what "scratchin & kitbashin" was:mrgreen:. To bad that everything we needed on our layouts was not commercially available, but then guess that would take the fun out of keeping the gray matter active and building it...

    HO Train Layout

Gus...I forgot to mention that the rocks on the second picture were made by using the tile pieces sideways instead of on stacked on one another to show the edges. In other words I scratched the face surface of the tile to try and do away with the "Flat" look. Hope this makes sense!

    Inexpensive Bridge

Thought I would share how I built the bridge shown below. I was looking for something to make a fairly long bridge to cross a lake. Got some plastic ribbon cartridges from a printer where I used to work and thought they would come in handy sometime but had no idea how to use them. I...

    HO Train Layout

Gus the technique that I tried to follow is posted by hminky dated 3-16-2005 under the Search Forums, title "Making Ceiling Tiel Rocks". I got some brocken ceiling tiles from the lumber yard that were around 1/2 inch thick. I brock them into randum pieces then hot glued them together one on...
