    My layout Progress

Wickman, Was just wondering what your table measurements are? The top picture is bit small to read. I have a L table are that is 3.4m * 1m & 2.5m *1m and I am still bumping around ideas of how to place the tracks.

    Maerklin C-Tracks or K-Tracks

Well I have been doing some reading and talking to the local club who are made up of mixed maerklin and non maerklin users. To answer your question the new tracks are no different in the electrical than the old ones and the converters are easy and not that expensive to buy, if you need them...

    Maerklin C-Tracks or K-Tracks

Need some advice, here in Switzerland most stores are pushing the C-Tracks (which is the track with the base already attacked) but I am not sure as was planning on having cork under the K-Track to make is smoother and quieter. Can anyone give advice on this, what tracks are the better ones...

    My HO Layout

Thanks Lester, did you check our the link on the bottom of my posting, not a bad idea. In Switzerland we are a bit short of space, so I do not really want to use the valuable space on a Yard for the wagon so was going to place them under the table with a window in the side to get access. My...

    My HO Layout

Thanks everybody for you help and advice. My decision has been made, due to the local area having a very good Maerklin shops ( very little else is around here) I will buy the major stuff through the internet but its always good to have a local supplier. I am not sure but will most like go for...

    Layout progress

Lester, I know it's common, I was just wondering why people stay with the foam idea as it seems so much extra work, is there advantage and disadvantage for each?

    My HO Layout

I am still fighting over which room, as to place this setup in my office is possible (the wife is not 100% sure ) but will make my office tight and I use it for computer work. There is one more option short of making the kids share a room ;-0 That is the cellar, now the problem here is that in...

New train room - need ideas!

You could actally do it right against the "HW" wall and have a break in the middle to walk through or even under as no doubt the table near "HW" would be so close it would make little difference.

    Layout progress

Hi Lester, Nice someone saw my posting :D A bit hard to explain, will try now and next visit take a picture. All it is a ramp which is set up the same as buying the bridge supports which each one is slowy higher than the next (link below) and then laying a softwood on top of it...

    Layout progress

Question, why do you guys use foam and all the work to cut it to the right size, a lot of sample here (in switzerland) use light weight wood, with support and a small cork or a thin foam bed under the track. Seems an easier solution as you then can adjust the height easier with a nail change.

    My HO Layout

First thanks for the help. I am still coming to terms with the RTS program never using it before this week. The idea of these plans is to give you all an idea of the space I have and my ideas to hear your advice, lucky so, as my original plan had lots of mistakes.. I have seen the flexi...

    My HO Layout

Some of you might have read my posting in the Scale N or general chat area. Well I would love to build a HO track or a HOnm track instead of a scale N and have found a spot that might work, just the wife has not fully agreed to give up that area yet. Have a look and see what you think, the...

    Beginner to Model Railways

Yes jetrock you are correct as mentioned in my above mail those squares are 12" x 12", I need to get my mind in the inch format or find a way to change the setting to cm. The second problem, in top right where the track crosses "under" the wye, the wye section would be on top and the long...

    Beginner to Model Railways

Sorry, Before I even read your replies, I realised on the way to work this morning what I did, I set the table for 250 long which after working with this program for a while I should have realised that meant 250 inches, therefore about 750cm a bit long than I have, must have been pretty tied...
