    Small layout plan...need some help!

Some of you have probably seen a couple of posts of mine in regards to my smaller HO layout. I'm having a difficult time coming up with anything interesting. The space I'm dealing with is 33" wide and 6' long. At the ends I'm using Atlas 15" radius track to turn the train around. I've been...

Need help with a smaller than usual HO layout...

I have a smaller HO Layout packed into a one bedroom apartment. Looking for a track plan to fit inside of the loop I already have. I have some track inside the loop laid out, but not tacked down yet. Before I start tacking things down, I figured I'd run a picture by you guys and maybe you could...

    i'm a firm beleiver in the 4x8

Here's my 5"10" X 33" setup...gotta love apartment living:rolleyes: I'm running 15" radius Atlas snap track, 40 to 50' rolling stock and 4 axle locomotives at most. Might have to hack up (shorten) some Bachmann coaches so I can run some passenger trains. Being 22, I haven't had space for a...

    HO in cramped apartment

Wow...it's been a while since I posted this. Did the 2x8 HO for a long time, finally broke down and did N scale for a while, but couldn't stand it. Moved into an apartment with slightly bigger rooms, so now I just started a 33" x 5' 10" HO layout. Can finally run knuckle couplers and normal...

    Finding n scale vehicles

Where's a good place for n scale vehicles? I'm looking for something budget minded that won't break the bank. Also...where do I find decent priced n scale tractor-trailers for my industries? I have some micro machines and some of those speedy's with the ball in them from walmart, but im looking...

    Scale & Space dilemma

I'm not really into the whole trolly thing, mostly into the desolate stretch of road on route 66 type thing. I think it's time to make the switch...thanks for the advice!

    Scale & Space dilemma

Most of the time I just run trains...sometimes I do enjoy some switching activity though. Another thing is that It's hard to find shorter passenger rolling stock, I want to bring passenger service to my layout, but I don't think the radius will permit that. Any other words of wisdom?

    Scale & Space dilemma

I am limited to a max of about 2x9 for a layout. I currently have an HO layout this size, continuous loop with a decent sized yard, and running about an 11" radius that only 50' rolling stock and Lifelike F7's will negotiate just fine. My question is...Should I keep going with this...

How do I re-letter my Locos

I have a bunch of mix and match HO equipment that I want to paint and re-letter to match. I have heard about dry transfer, but have no idea how to do it. I have a Hobby Bench and a JoAnn fabrics nearby. What do I need to start my project? Thanks for the info... Custom

    What exactly is a "Slug"?

I was surfing the net reading up on some locomotive history and came across the phrase "slug". The article dealt with the conversion of F units to CF7's. I have a hunch that it is another term for the cabless B units. Does anyone have any particulars on the Slugs or when they were produced &...

    Affordable HO vehicles

Jon Grants' trucks look like stuff manufactured under the "Boley" name in the us at about $5-$6 each. I went a picked myself up a pack of trucks and a pack of cars from my LHS from the life like line. They are pretty easy to paint up too. I have some of the Johnny Lightning commercial stuff too...
