To Build A Ship: HMS Cleopatra

Very Cool! It is obviously a lot of work, but the result is quite impressive! Can't wait to find an excuse to try it out. I don't think my castle needs life boats, though. I am also glad to see the Cleo back in action! Regards,

Fly Model Nr 130 , HMS. RODNEY

Hi Scorpio The images do not show the problems you discuss. It looks quite accurate. Will you seal the hull pieces before you paint it? Look forward to more reports and tips. Best greetings,

    Digitals Yamato

Hi Rob- Been lurking here for awhile and admiring the construction. You have great patience and attention to detail. It is really paying off. I recall that you have yet to glue anything to the deck, so I imagine you'll touch up those constructions before permanently affixing them to the...

    Schwan II

Thanks Rob, That's a good idea. :D :D I had tried the suggestion posted somewhere on this forum about using steam to assist in rolling masts and gun barrels, so this makes a lot of sense. I also like the irony of using paper's two mortal enemies water and fire to make it bend to my will!!

    Schwan II

Hi Alfred- I cheated and saw your Bauberichte on the kartonbau.de forum. Looking very nice. The Schwan has come a long way! The winches are tough to build. Gruß

    Battleship Bismarck

Now we can all sleep at night knowing your Bismarck is safe!!! We'll worry about what Rodney might try later. I have to log in, delete all cardmodels cookies, and then refresh to get in. It looks like the logout script is not resetting the cookie.

Nice work. These jobs require such exacting work, it always amazes me to see someone compete it so skillfully. Enjoying the build!

    Battleship Bismarck

Congratulations Scorpio! An awe inspiring work of art. Your Bismarck has completely shattered my concept of excellent work and the level of detail that can be accomplished in card modelling. I enjoyed very much watching this masterpiece being built. Hope you have a VERY safe place to...

    k.u.k. Marine Wien

I have found that Alta Vista's Babel Fish also works well for German-English translations, and for Polish-English, I use the Poltran site, with mixed results. You always have to do some interpretation.

Excellent Steve! The minimalist rigging seems to be a bit more than I'd consider minimalist and it looks great. Thanks for sharing the experience with us. I'm going to try that ship launching technique, too. Cheers.

Great idea. :D I saw in a previous post that you have the detail kit (Ätzteile?). Will you use the strips for railings? How thin can you cut a strip that is still usable? I have used a mat cutter and very thin strips curl quite a lot.
