Great detail work!
Love it! :)

And yeah, as you are just over the border, I know what you mean by the weather.
The forecast is looking good for the next few weeks at least.
Summer has at last decided to begin.....:animated:

Indeed! That's why I would like to finish the build today. Tomorrow I'll be back at work which will cut the time for building, too. :)

It has been summer here for about a month. 80-90 degrees everyday with rain anytime everyday. Its raining now. The model coming along very nicely.

Yeah, I thought it was about time to post a message. Last week was very tough with the weather being the worst enemy. It was so hot here, almost 40°C. As a fellow builder said this morning, you know when it is too hot for building when the greeblies begin to stick to your lower arm..! ;)

I have added A LOT of small parts in order to replicate the details in 2.5 and 3 D. Really, I did not intend to make the model THAT detailed but, well, somehow I feel being haunted by Rhaven Blaack's spirit who would swing the whip if I hadn't made it that way. :D

Nevertheless, there is still plenty of room to further greeblify it. :)

The stand requires some tactical tweaking; in the 3D model it looked good but I think it is too big in reality (it is almost as big as the model itself which looks a bit weird). In the end you might wonder if it is a model of a stand with a ship on top of it or a model of a ship sitting on a HUGE stand. :)

My problem is I am over hauling two tractors, doing brake jobs on my two Subaru's, and it is eating all my time for anything else, forget about the house upkeep and the lawn. My tractors are fa handful right now........

Alright, here we go again! :)

The bottom side is laminated to 1 mm cardboard and attached.

Several laminated plates and tubes are attached.

There are two ways to assemble the prominent Y-piece. You can either use a laminated 2D drawing or - like me - a fully fleshed out version.

DSCF9853.jpg

A wooden rod is cut to match the length of the front piece in the graphic.

DSCF9855.jpg

Then regular paper is wrapped around it. The graphic tells you how much paper has to be rolled around it. The kit will not include a colored paper strip for glueing because that would only work if you use the same paper like me. If you use thicker / thinner paper the result will be different.

The side pieces are simple blocks:

They are connected through a middle piece:

The rod is painted grey and inserted into a hole in the middle piece.

The Y-piece and a few more parts are attached to the bottom.

The "nose":

Bottom complete. :)

The final greeblie of the "wheel box" on the top side:

At this point the spirit of Rhaven Blaack struck me - again. ;)

So I added some small paper ribs to the inside of the "wheel box":

"Wheel box" complete. :)

The stand resembles the planet you see in the shot of the Triangle Ship passing by in the series. The curved bottom piece is glued together with paper strips from the inside.

The strips are cut several times to make them more flexible.

CU!

Revell- Fan,

Wow!!!! You really outdid yourself on this one. Great job on the model (this is an understatement) and the stand is outSTANDing!!

I've just started on the Defender. Right now it's just pieces that have to be further cut and scored. For the greebling I was thinking of embossing some of the pieces instead and greebling others. Like any BSG project there is LOTS of texturing and hence lots of greebling to be done.

After seeing your project here you've given me a lot to think about.

Thanks for the examples, your work is quite inspiring.

I'll start a new thread on that when I have something to show.

Again GREAT job!!

Happy 4th of July weekend to you.
