Delta 7 Studios Gemini 4 @ 1/48

Hi to all, i'd like to share my last build. Some year ago i bought the Gemini Project from Delta 7 Studios and this was one of my first paper models.

The design is good, but my build was not so good, and what's more, I would like to improve some detail, and reduce the scale. The original scale was 1/24, so i printed the model four pages per sheet, getting half scale: 1/48.

My project was to open both the doors, so i copied and mirrored the page with door's parts and i cut off the panel on left side.

The forward bussines end was depicted only graphically, so i decided to realize a tridimensional version of them.

The seats were small but the result is good and the interiors now were completed.

I put on the back of the capsule a golden sheet, to reproduce the milar thermal blanket. Here also i did some tridimensional details.

And finally the model completed!

Then I partecipated at my first exhibition. They were two happy days with many people attending, and many talks with experienced and sympathetic modelers.
Here below a picture of my exhibit, that collected much interest, mainly for the media I usually use: the paper!

At the end I was surprised that they gave me an award!
The official motivation was "for the entire collection", because the judges were unable to choice between.
The picture show the three models that collected more consenses and the silver medal that they awarded me in the astronautic section

An experience to repeat.

Best, Nando :)

Nando,
Your work is excellent! No surprise you were awarded for it! The Gemini is fantastic, I love what you did with it, and the gold foil on the blanket really makes it pop. Thanks for the pics, it's inspiring me to build another one:)

@ sjsquirrel, Space Boy, mspacemike, SonOfAGun2501, mcusanelli, DanBKing: Thank You guys for your kind words.
I'm very happy to see that this old model (november 2013) can arouse some interest.

Thanks zathros, but you shouldn't be intimidated by the model. The original one is at 1/24 scale (big, easy and beautiful) and the difficult part in my built is the scale that i choose ( 1/48 ), and i didn't learn the lesson ( Udon's LM @ 1:96 ).

great builds! looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks spaceagent-9, but i'm a lazy modeler :( . I start many projects and i completed only some between those. So I prefer publish only the projects that I'm sure to complete or that I already completed. Between the projects that I completed but never published here, there is a Gundam Sinanju, some planes of Bruno Vanhecke, whereas I started many build that are pending in my to do list (e.g. UHU02 Orion III), and many projects stopped at the design stage (Thrust SSC, HMB Endeavour, AC 72 Oracle and many more).

You can find pictures of my builds / projects in my Picasa Web album.

At the present I'm building another TSMC jet of the century series: the F-100 Super Sabre ... slowly, very slowly ...

Thanks again, Nando :)

You should see how many I have designed, unfolded, and just stopped on. Probably 20 so far. I'll help anyone who asks, but they must have good knowledge of the process. :)
