did the carpenter's foam help? I mean did it actually work? I was thinking of carving floral foam under-structures for some models.

I pee all over my models, to mark them as mine. Of course, the yellowing made me have to come up with a better way. So I now add copious layers of clear coat, then, with my miniature motion detectors, when a bug is detected, a fine water mist is sprayed, and a 10,000 volt arc through the mist to kill the bug is activated. I sell kits for these, they are $10,000 dollars, or the equivalent in Gold, at prevailing prices.. :)

Dan,
I'm on Long Island, out in the woods, so we get a lot of damp weather and bugs as well....I seal everything with Krylon, and sometimes Future on top of that, and so far, I've been lucky, none of the models have been affected. It seems to preserve them nicely too. Just don't use future unless the model has been sealed with a non water based spray first....I learned that the hard way!!

I tired my pee to seal some models and it didn't work. I had to throw them away due to the smell after a few days. however I was wondering if a strong yellow painted light would work. I think they still make them and are called mosquito lights?

Well, a few reasons really, some personal, but the 'straw that broke the camels back' was when my neighbour was shot dead in his own driveway for his BMW.
If a car has more value than life, in certain peoples eyes, then I did not want to take a chance with my own.
And to make matters worse, about a year and a half after I left, my 25 yr old son was shot twice in the back protecting his family from people that had broken into his house in the middle of the night..
Luckily, he survived and no permanent damage was done, (well, not physical anyway. His mental state at the time, was not best though.)

My son and his family are sorting things out to get the hell out of that country too.

It is such a shame, it is/was such a beautiful place, (not including all people,) and I miss the country and climate everyday....

As they saying goes.. Eish! My family also had an incident in 2013, we were held at gunpoint while our house was cleaned out of electronics, fortunately no-one injured. I have a UK passport and just want to get my kids sorted out (they qualify for the UK passport as well) before we plan to leave as well. I don't want my kids growing up in constant fear.

Yep, exactly the same reason that my son wants to leave.
The whole family is eligible to receive British Passports as well, as I am English by birth.

Where are you planning on emigrating to then ??

would the floor wax applied in a light mist from a spray bottle wet the model too much?

I use Future a lot, it's great stuff, but as I mentioned, try it on a scrap before you spray or brush it on a model. If it's already been sealed by a coat or two of Krylon or Testors type clear coats. Otherwise, it may make the print run......
