Raven......look....

That was my fault. I made a mistake when I made the Landram. I did not catch it until well after it was finished.
I am planning on rebuilding it (eventually). I am wanting to make a track system that is more realistic (as well as a few other changes).

Ladies and gentlemen,

There have been a few hints made (here and there) about a (close to) screen accurate set of tracks for this vehicle ( including the "A-TEAM Landram and the Power Sled) possibly being designed and made. Well, I am working on that very thing right now.
I am doing what I can to make it both easily buildable and screen accurate as possible (I know, it is a very tall bill. Well (at 6' 6" (2 meters) tall) I am a very tall guy. So I think that I can fill this bill).

Here is the parts sheets.
IMAG5389.jpg

I started with the wheel first (starting with the drive wheel).

I laminated both the front and back faces to 1.5 mm.
IMAG5390.jpg

I drilled a hole in the back parts (the same diameter as a bamboo skewer (about 2.mm).
IMAG5391.jpg

Both halves are glued together. The hole will help hold the axle in place.
IMAG5392.jpg

I have done the same with the main guide wheels.
IMAG5393.jpg IMAG5394.jpg

All of the wheels are finished. I have also cut pieces of bamboo skewers to a length of 5 cm.

I have started on the drive box (engine and drive system).

Here is the parts sheet for that.
IMAG5396.jpg

I have made internal formers for the drive box to help hold the axles and give added strength to the drive box as a whole.
IMAG5397.jpg

The formers and the drive box are assebled.
IMAG5398.jpg IMAG5399.jpg

The drive box is fully assembled.
IMAG5400.jpg IMAG5401.jpg

I have attached the axles.
IMAG5402.jpg IMAG5403.jpg

I have attached all of the wheels to the axles.

Here is an update to this project.
I am now working on the tracks.

Starting with the inside half of the tracks. Here are the parts that are needed (the tracks, slats and guide posts).
IMAG5408.jpg

These slats are attached first.
IMAG5409.jpg IMAG5410.jpg IMAG5411.jpg

Now for the guide posts.
*NOTE* The guide posts are (roughly) 4 - 5 mm apart, so that the wheels will fit properly.
IMAG5412.jpg IMAG5413.jpg

The first half of the inner half of the track is done.

Here are both halves of the inner half of the track.
IMAG5421.jpg

Both halves are connected.
IMAG5422.jpg

Here are the outer halves.
IMAG5423.jpg

Both the outer halves and inner halves are laminated together.
*NOTE* make certain that you leave some overlap, so that they will connect properly.

The proof of concept is finished.
I had to change the drive wheel to a 12 point wheel. After that, I wrapped the track around the wheels and everything fell into place perfectly.
Since this is a "proof of concept" build, I did not add the blades on the tracks (there are 60 blades total).
IMAG5426.jpg IMAG5427.jpg IMAG5428.jpg IMAG5429.jpg IMAG5430.jpg
(*NOTE* Even though the track system is made to look realistic, it is static.)

I have sent all of the photos and new parts sheets to Revell-Fan for review and revision. Once the revision is finished, it will be added to the rest of the add-on components.

Please stay tuned to your local Colonial Fleet Broadcast channels for further updates as they come in.

I don't think you need the blades. With all that surface area, this thing would have no trouble tracking. :)

True, you could put rubber pads in the place of the blades (It would make it more "street" legal).

Tracks, like in the picture below are pretty standard. Their adhesion is superior, these things do not get stuck. Hey, you should consider adding a tracked trailer. The ones below are also powered, making these tings have incredible traction. A Landram with a matching trailer would be so cool! :)

Since the Landram was never fully utilized to its fullest potential, there are many options to explore. So making a tracked trailer (like the one shown) would not be outside of the realm of possibilities for future add-on packets. In all actuality, something like that could (easily) be adapted and modified for a variety of different missions.

Drive systems are completely different, just sayin'. The Imps drive like a tank, the SUSV steer by articulating. The SUSV is a beast, but breaking track is a whore, as it is a single piece continuous track, and there are four per vehicle. We had diesels in both 5 and 6 cylinders. The older 6 cylinders sounded like a tiger tank. But being constructed out of fiberglass and plywood there are some distinct disadvantages. C Battery burned down three of them (ironically, all bumper number C-25), each incident was due to the operator not releasing the hand brake, the brakes overheated, and the fiberglass and plywood bodies burned. Oh, the last vehicle was an ammo carrier, and the 105mm shells cooked off. The engine block melted and parts of that SUSV ended up in the Battalion commander boots. The engine block puddle was hung on Charlie Battery's dayroom wall. For the remainder of my time at Ft. Wainwright we did not have another C-25 in the battalion. Oh, I could go on and on about those, I have a few more war stories about the SUSV. Good times.

Seriously, I would love to build one up in 1:18, just like we had in 5/11 FA. I have even thought about RC using Tamiya tracks and rescaling the Paper-Replika version. But that has a different rear cab.
